We are delighted to present our offer of the simply stunning 2009 Burgundies from Domaine Jean Grivot. As Burghound's scores will attest to, Grivot has attained a standard from these vineyards that very few can match.
From Clive Coates' The Wines of Burgundy: "Run by Etienne Grivot and his charming wife Marielle, this is one of the great domaines of Burgundy. Everything is done in the vineyard with respect for the quality and life of the soil. Though not biodynamic, the viticulture is as natural as possible, involving the Plocher energy system of bringing life into the environment.....The wines have been quite brilliant here since a brief flirtation with the theories of Guy Accad in the 1980s" 3 Star Domaine (the highest possible rating)

2009 Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne Romanee - $95 per bottle
A very Vosne nose is both seductive and highly spiced as are the very suave, round and fleshy middle weight flavors that culminate in a detailed, intense and mineral-inflected finish that, despite the richness of the mid-palate, is actually linear in shape at the present. This is really quite a nice villages and worth considering. 89 Points, Drink 2017+. Burghound
2009 Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne Romanee 1er Cru 'Aux Brulees' - $219 per bottle
A strikingly spicy, ripe and quite densely fruited nose speaks of earth, smoke, red currant liqueur and black berries while sliding gracefully into rich, generous and sappy medium weight flavors that possess a beguiling mouth feel on the impressively intense and long finish. This is relatively robust with good muscle and verve and should make for a stunning wine in 10 to 12 years. 92-94 Points, Drink 2019+. Burghound
2009 Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne Romanee 1er Cru 'Les Beaux Monts' - $219 per bottle
This is notably more elegant and much cooler with a distinctly more classic Vosne nose that features a wonderful array of spice notes to the fresh and highly refined mostly black pinot fruit suffused aromas. The detailed, pure and energetic flavors possess an effortless grace and class as well as huge length on the moderately austere finish. This is as good a young Grivot Beaux Monts as I can ever remember seeing. 94 Points, Drink 2021+. Burghound
2009 Domaine Jean Grivot Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru - $279 per bottle
A discreet touch of wood spice adds aromatic breadth to the earthy and reserved red berry fruit nose that also offers up a suggestion of the sauvage that carries over to the rich, powerful and admirably concentrated big-bodied flavors that culminate in an impressively long, energetic and youthfully austere finish. This is a big and muscular but not rustic example that will require plenty of cellar time. 95 Points, Drink 2024+. Burghound
2009 Domaine Jean Grivot Echezeaux Grand Cru - $329 per bottle
An exuberantly spicy nose of wonderfully seductive black fruit liqueur aromas leads to rich, suave, pure and dense flavors that are a highly beguiling blend of finesse and power, all wrapped in a robust yet finely detailed finish of stunning length. This is one of the very best examples of the appellation in 2009. 95 Points, Drink 2024+. Burghound
