2015 Domaine Rene Rostaing, 100 points!
2017 Sorrenberg Gamay &
2017 Henschke Peggy's Hill Riesling

At MW this week we have just received our allocation from Northern Rhone superstar, Rene Rostaing. Rene took ownership of a small holding in the Rhone Valley in 1971 and since then has expanded and become one of the most highly regarded producers in the region. The stream of accolades for Rene hasn't looked like slowing down anytime soon either with a string of fantastic vintages over the last decade, culminating in what could be his greatest vintage yet in 2015 receiving a perfect 100 point score for his 2015 Cote-Rotie 'La Cote Blonde'.

These wines are, of course, in high demand and we have received only very humble quantities. For this offer, the 2015 Cote-Rotie 'La Landonne' (99+ points, The Wine Advocate) and 2015 Cote-Rotie 'La Cote Blonde' (100 points, The Wine Advocate)will only be available in mixed buys with the 2015 Cote-Rotie 'Ampodium'.

As well this week, we have an absolute benchmark Australian wine in the 2017 Sorrenberg Gamay and the 2017 Henschke Peggy's Hill Riesling which recently took the honours of best Rieslingin show at the National Wine Show of Australia.

All wines below are available now at our special offer prices for the next 7 days only. To place your order return the attached form, by email, by fax on 03 9419 6970 or by or calling us on 03 9419 6990.

Domaine Rene Rostaing

2015 Cote-Rotie 'Ampodium'

$150

Bottled in July, the 2015 Cote Rotie Ampodium is fairly full-bodied and quite rich. The black olive and raspberry notes verge on being jammy but are balanced by peppery spice and firm, savory tannins. Give it 5 years in the cellar to settle down, and drink it over the next decade and a half or more. For an entry-level wine, it's remarkable.
Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate, 94points

2015 Cote-Rotie 'La Landonne' Pack
(Pack includes 3x 2015 Cote-Rotie 'Ampodium' & 1x 2015 Cote-Rotie 'La Landonne')
$750

Am I being stingy in only awarding Rostaing's 2015 Cote Rotie la Landonne 99+ points? This is a tremendous wine, showing immense richness and power without any apparent weight. Raspberries flood the palate in waves, accented by various spices in a wine that's intensely tannic yet never hard or astringent. Breathtaking stuff.
Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate, 99+ points

2015 Cote-Rotie 'La Cote Blonde'
(Pack includes 3x 2015 Cote-Rotie 'Ampodium' & 1x 2015 Cote-Rotie 'La Cote Blonde')
$770

I give Rostaing's 2015 Cote Rotie La Cote Blonde the slightest of edges over the La Landonne for its more aromatic, floral nose. It shows that same unfathomable depth and richness married to a sense of weightlessness and elegance that marks the La Landonne, and it also shows those wonderfully pure raspberry flavors. It's lush, velvety and incredibly long on the finish. Collectors fortunate enough to grab some of each will have great fun comparing the two over the next 30 years or so.
Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate, 100 points

Sorrenberg

2017 Gamay

$50

A wine that possessed cult appeal in the past but fast becoming something a little more well known.Barry and Jan Morey have always impressed us with this wine and I dare say that the 2017 vintage won't disappoint.
Hugh French, MW Wines

The nose of the 2017 Gamay exhibits sweet cherry and raspberry with a hint of spice. The palate has plenty of berry fruits with nice spice and white pepper. The palate is long and lingering with well balanced acid and subtle dusty tannins. This wine will cellar for at least 8 years.
Producer Notes, Sorrenberg

Henschke

2017 Peggy's Hill Riesling
$20

The Riesling Trophy, The National Wine Show of Australia 2017

Pale straw in colour with green hues. Vibrant aromas of lime and lemon zest, flowering lavender, white rose and citrus blossom are met by notes of stone-fruit and green peppercorn. An intense and generous palate of concentrated lemon, lime zest and stone-fruit flavours are perfectly balanced with peppercorn spice, pure citrus acidity and a tightly wound core, that leads to a crisp, dry and exquisitely long finish.
Producer Notes, Henschke
