2018 Domaine Jacques Carillon
Jacques Carillon began his harvest on August 25th, and he has produced a very charming range of wines. The 2018 vintage at this address is somewhat reminiscent of the Carillon 2015s — with a touch less density and concentration — and it is likely to drink beautifully out of the gates.

Though the heat in 2018 cast some doubt, good growers such as Jacques Carillon produced bright Chardonnays with energetic freshness and alluring fruit. These wines which are stylistically more acid-driven benefited from the warmth of 2018 adding an additional layer of fruit complexity. As with previous 2018 white burgundy, these wines are accessible and drinking beautifully now.

2018 Chassagne-Montrachet
Usually $120 - Special Offer $115
The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Village, tasted as the final blend, includes some parcels that were regrafted from red. It has much more vigor and intensity on the nose compared to the Puligny Village. The palate is saline on the entry, delivering crisp acidity, touches of sour lemon and orange peel and a waxy-textured finish. Excellent.

2018 Puligny-Montrachet
Usually $139 - Special Offer $134
This is aromatically riper than its 2017 counterpart with a whisper of the exotic to the white and yellow orchard fruit that includes a hint of passion fruit. There is both good volume and richness to the attractively textured flavors that deliver good length though not necessarily excellent complexity. However, the underlying material appears to be present such that it could develop more depth in time.
Allen Meadows, Burghound - 88-91 Points

2018Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru 'Les Perrieres'
Usually $229 - Special Offer $220
The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrières 1er Cru is a blend of two cuvées that Jacques Carillon combined for me, the vines originating from the bottom of the vineyard. It has a complex bouquet of green apples, orange pith and crushed stone, tense and steely as a Puligny should be. The palate is underpinned by superb acidity that cuts through the richness and power of this Les Perrières. Long and deep on the finish. Yes!
