JJ Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese 2004
Of an age when J J Prüm wines begin to hit the high C… From an ugly duckling, 2004 has turned into a swan vintage, not just for Prüm, and this Sonnenuhr’s composition of herbs, minerality and fruit would turn the nose of any self-respecting wine taster. On the palate there is still plenty of bite from sound acidity, but it is the substance of flavour that impresses most. Almonds, marzipan and mint mingle effortlessly, adding superb nuances to a Spätlese which does not need tropical exaggeration, but is happy with its green and yellow local fruit display.
- Michael Schmidt (www.jancisrobinson.com) Score 18.5/20 Tasted: 01-Jul-2015 Drink 2008-2025

Domaine William Fevre Chablis 1er Cru 'Montee de Tonnerre' 2015
The cool and restrained nose is mostly comprised by notes of mineral reduction though there are background nuances of iodine, pear and white flowers in evidence. I very much like the power and intensity to the concentrated yet refined medium weight flavors that display more evident minerality on the beautifully textured and persistent finish that is ever-so-mildly youthfully austere. This is more classically styled than most of these 2015s.
- Allen Meadows (Burghound) Score: 90-93, Tasted: Oct 08, 2016, Drink: 2021+, Issue: 64

Tolpuddle Pinot Noir 2016
This wine is true to the Tolpuddle Vineyard Pinot Noir style: intensely aromatic, balanced with savoury spice notes from whole bunch fermentation, along with purity of varietal expression, fresh acidity and firm tannins. The 2016 vintage is very perfumed, medium bodied and approachable.
- Tolpuddle

Benjamin Leroux Bourgogne Rouge 2015
A fresh, bright and ripe yet cool nose consists mostly of red pinot fruit and soft earth nuances. There is good volume to the round, delicious and appealingly vibrant flavors that terminate in a mildly rustic if persistent finale.
- Allen Meadows (Burghound), Score: 86, Tasted: Apr 15, 2017, Drink: 2018+, Issue 66

Benjamin Leroux Savigny-les-Beaune 2015
A pungently earthy and lightly oaked nose offers up notes of forest floor, red currant and plum. The vibrant middle weight flavors possess a lovely texture thanks to the solid mid-palate density, all wrapped in a punchy and mildly rustic finish where a touch of warmth arises.
- Allen Meadows (Burghound), Score: 87-89, Tasted: Apr 15, 2017, Drink: 2021+, Issue: 66

Domaine Jean-Marc Pavelot Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru 'La Dominode' 2010
A brooding and very somber nose only grudgingly gives up its aromas of lightly spiced plum, earth and black raspberry. The dense, serious and overtly powerful flavors possess outstanding concentration and even though the very firm tannins are borderline chewy there is so much extract that there is a velvety texture to the explosively long, balanced and harmonious finish. This is strikingly impressive and clearly built to age.
Alan Meadows (Burghound) Score: 93, Tasted: Apr 01, 2012, Drink: 2020+, Issue: 46

Faiveley Mercurey 1er Cru 'Clos du Roy' 2015
Discreet wood sets off slightly riper yet still fresh aromas of plum, earth, spice and black cherry that offer even better complexity. Here too the mouth feel of the medium-bodied flavors is sleek and vibrant while possessing excellent complexity, balance and persistence. This is a very good value play and recommended.
- Allen Meadows (Burghound), 90-92 points, Tasted Jan 15 2017, Drink 2022+, Issue 65

Domaine Humbert Freres Gevrey-Chambertin 2014
A subtle but still visible application of wood frames the notably earthy and sauvage suffused dark currant scents. Once again there is excellent freshness and intensity to the equally mineral-driven flavors that possess a bit more size, weight and power on the slightly longer and more complex finish. This is an excellent Gevrey villages and worth considering.
Alan Meadows (Burghound) Score: 89-91, Tasted: Jan 15, 2016, Drink: 2021+, Issue: 61, Outstanding

Domaine Maume Gevrey-Chambertin 'En Pallud' 2010
From an old cellar under the house, dating back to 1726, Domaine Maume has less than a tiny 5 hectares of mature old vines, the largest single plot is grand-cru MazisChambertin of .67ha, the rest of their superbly sited holdings are located quite close to Gevrey Chambertin including both 1er cru and grand-cru vineyards.
- Vintage & Vine

‘...the Maumes’ wines are superbly crafted and amongst the best in Gevrey-Chambertin’
- The Great Domaines of Burgundy, Remington Norman

Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-St.-Georges 1er Cru 'Les Chaignots' 2009
This is a relatively fresh '09 with an expressive nose that offers up notes of plum, cassis and very ripe black berry liqueur notes. The attractively textured and very rich flavors are supple, round and supported by relatively fine tannins and plenty of mouth coating dry extract. I like the balance and overall sense of harmony of this seductively textured example though it's worth noting that some might find this to be just a little too ripe as there are hints of mocha on the finish.
Alan Meadows (Burghound) Score: 91, Tasted: Jan 10, 2012, Drink: 2021+, Issue: 45m

Tenuta Montanello Barolo 'Montanello' DOCG 2013
Produced from two sites (one planted in 1943 the other in 1992) the colour is ruby red with light garnet hues of medium intensity. Bright and alive the nose is intense with scents of fresh cherry, raspberry and violets with floral notes and spice. The palate is full and harmonious with dry tannins, moderate acidity and a very pleasant approachable texture. This is the best value Barolo we have seen this year (and we’ve seen a lot).
