John Coltrane's album Giant Steps is often regarded as his first genuinely iconic album coming only two years after the jazz legend parted ways with Miles Davis. In 1997, after moving on from Margaret River's Devil's Lair, Phil Sexton was so inspired by the Coltrane album that this was to be the name of his new project high up in the Yarra Valley, Giant Steps.
Leading the way from the wine making perspective is Chief Winemaker Steve Flamsteed, who has been there since 2003. Steve is a qualified chef and cheese maker but turned his hand to wine making in the early 90's after being inspired by his travels and work throughout France. Since then he hasn't looked back making wines at places like Leeuwin Estate in Margaret River and Yarra Burn in the Yarra Valley.
Next week we are very excited to have Steve with us at MW Wines to take us through the newly released 2017 Single Vineyard Range.Join us for an informative evening with Steve as he walks us through the new Single Vineyard Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays alongside some excellent back vintage examples.
