2016 Hubert Lignier
- SPECIAL OFFER -
In recent vintages the ever-congenial Hubert and his son Laurent have furnished each vintage with exemplary, occasionally heavenly wines that rank amongst the finest in Burgundy. If God made wine for a reason, then it was for wines like these. These are very special wines, some of the best you will find in Burgundy.
Hailed as a superb quality but with minute yields, the 2016 Burgundy vintage is absolutely worthy of cellaring as well as being incredibly delicious. Today we're extraordinarily happy to be offering a selection of 2016 Hubert Lignier wines which we have received recently.
Due to severe hail and mildew experienced in the region, we have very little of these spectacular wines available, so get in quick to secure yours now.

Vines planted between 1950 and 2002. Produced fromgrapes from the “Reniard” and “Epointures” climats. The wines are vinified separately then blended forageingand the result is a pleasant, deliciously fruity wine. Generous when young, they also have good cellar-ageing potential.
2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 'Les Suevrees'
Usually $145 - Special Offer $135
The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin les Seuvrées comes from 60- to 70-year-old vines and included 30% whole-bunch fruit. This has a more refined and precise bouquet than the la Justice thanks to the effortlessly pure red fruit intertwined with cold stone/limestone aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a killer line of acidity and a brightness on the finish that is a pure joy. This is a superb village cru, one of the best that I encountered this vintage.

2016 Chambolle-Musigny V.V.
Usually $179 - Special Offer $169
The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes comes from purchased grapes sourced from two lieux-dits: Drazy and Grammaire. It is 100% destemmed with 20% new oak. It has a seductive nose of baked black cherries, vanilla pod and hints of blue fruit that blossom immediately in the glass. The palate is well balanced with succulent ripe red cherry and cranberry fruit, a pleasant chalky texture toward the latter half with a mineral-intense finish. Excellent.

Vines planted in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Produced partially from the domaine’s grapes (Chenevery) and partially from purchased grapes (Chenevery, Crais Gillon, Chorvées Gillon). The soils are deeper and composed of clay. They create complete, well-structured wines, which are smooth on the palate. The aromas often include notes of violets and blackcurrants.
2016 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru 'Les Chaffots'
Usually $259 - Special Offer $244
The 2016 Morey St Denis 1er Cru les Chaffots was matured in 30% new oak and includes 25% whole bunch fruit. It has a complex bouquet: blackberry, bilberry jam, cold stone and light undergrowth scents that blossom in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple, very lithe in the mouth with pure red berry fruit laced with orange zest and allspice toward the finish that fans out superbly. What a superb, delicious Morey St Denis from Laurent Lignier.

2016 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
(ONLY 2 BOTTLES AVAILABLE)
Usually $549 - Special Offer $509
The 2016 Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru comes from Mazoyères and includes 25% new oak and one-third whole cluster fruit. It has a sensual bouquet that is as much Charmes as Mazoyères, well defined and very elegant, not a million miles away from Denis Bachelet in style. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine thread of acidity, very pure in style with a saline finish that gets the taste buds going. This is a wonderful Charmes Chambertin that should give 20 years of drinking pleasure.

2016 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
(ONLY 1 BOTTLEAVAILABLE)
Usually $699 - Special Offer $649
The 2016 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru is matured in 30% new oak with up to 30% whole cluster fruit, two-thirds from Montluisants and one-third Fremiers. It has an intoxicating bouquet that is extraordinarily complex: shimmering red berry fruit, blood orange, incense and a touch of crushed violet. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, wonderful depth and harmony, laser-like focus toward the finish that lingers in the mouth. Stunning mineralité here—the tongue feels as if it licked limestone 30 second after the wine has disappeared. If there is a better Clos de la Roche then I have not tasted it (yet).
