Special Offer
Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg, Domaine Clape & Domaine Rostaing

This week at MW we've had some spectacular wines come through the doors. Firstly, for the Burgundy lovers, the sublime 2016 red Burgundies from Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg. The Mugneret-Gibourg wines are incredibly desirable and the quantities available are extremely low. If you are interested in these wines, the wise thing would be to get in quick to make sure you aren't one of the many who will, unfortunately, miss out.

For those who enjoy wine from the Rhone, we also have the latest offerings from two of the regions greatest producers in Domaine Clape from Cornas and Domaine Rostaing of Cote-Rotie. The 2016 Rhone vintage was superb offering elegance and purity to these stylistically bold and powerful wines.

All wines below are available now at our special offer prices for the next 7 days only. To place your order simply click the links below us on 03 9419 6990.

Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg never see a drop left inside a bottle whenever a Mugneret-Gibourg is opened. They bestow so much drinking pleasure that they are irresistible from start to finish, a proclivity to blossom and evolve with aeration. In recent years, their sensory virtues have been accompanied by an increasing level of profundity, complexity and precision within their top crus. Inevitably this has meant that Mugneret-Gibourg has become one of the most sought-after domaines...
Neal Martin,

2016 Vosne-Romanee

Mild reduction largely masks the fruit and I would suggest decanting this if you're going to try a bottle young. Otherwise the sleek, velvety and highly seductive medium-bodied flavors possess first-rate richness thanks to the abundant sap that buffers the moderately firm tannic spine shaping the mouth coating, balanced and lingering though compact and mildly warm finish.Outstanding.
Allen Meadows, Burghound Issue 73 - 89 Points

2016 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 'Les Vignes Riondes'

Here too there is just enough wood present to remark upon with its spicy and almost Vosne-like nose though the background earth scents on the ripe plum and dark cherry scents remind one that this is still a Nuits. The round and seductive flavors flash notably more minerality on the sappy medium weight flavors that possess outstanding depth and sneaky good length on the slightly firmer and mildly austere finale. Good stuff.Outstanding.
Allen Meadows, Burghound Issue 73 - 92 Points

2016 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 'Les Chaignots'

More subtle if still not invisible wood sets off the earthier and more evidently Nuits-like nose of red raspberry, dark cherry and whiffs of the sauvage. The more mineral-driven and sleekly muscular flavors possess a beguiling sense of underlying tension that continues onto the driving, super-intense and saline-inflected finish. This is definitely firmer and will need at least a few years of bottle age first. This too is very good. Outstanding.
Allen Meadows, Burghound Issue 73 - 93 Points

Domaine Clape

Some of the most singular wines in the world emerge from the dark, barely-lit cellars of Pierre-Marie Clape and his son, Olivier. This is a bastion of traditional winemaking, these wines are not destemmed, see long fermentations, and are aged in ancient barrels and casks. As Robert Parker wrote at one time, “There is nothing wrong with a case of Clape!” I agree wholeheartedly!
Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate

2016 Cornas 'Renaissance'
Usually $179.00 - Special Offer $164.00

Dark, spicy and stony aromas with a smoky and intense mineral edge, some garrigue herbs, blackberries and ripe plum fruits. A sense of deep-set tension in a succulent array of black-fruit flavors with a long driving thread of tannins. Barrel sample.
James Suckling, - 95-96 Points

2016 Cornas
Usually $249.00 - Special Offer $229.00

Many layers of aromas, complex and spicy with a fragrant array of dark brambly berries, dark plums, dark chocolate. Spices and peppers, as well as graphite-like stony notes. There’s a silky core to the palate with extreme power, all delivered so precisely that appear light and elegant. Sweet spiced-fruit flavors run long and bright, exploding in a spectacular spicy finish. Spends two winters in the cellar to deliver finesse in terms of tannins. Barrel sample.
James Suckling, - 98-99 Points

Domaine Rostaing

Rene took ownership of a small holding in the Rhone Valley in 1971 and since then has expanded and become one of the most highly regarded producers in the region. The stream of accolades for Rene hasn't looked like slowing down anytime soon either with a string of fantastic vintages over the last decade. 2016 was another great vintage for Rene, producing wines that carry the elegant and pure hallmarks of the 2016 vintage in contrast to the lauded blockbuster style of 2015. The balance and complexity of the 2016's will ensure the enjoyment of these wines well into the future.

2016 Cote-Rotie 'Ampodium'
Usually $174.00 - Special Offer $155.00

There are 20,000 bottles of Rostaing's 2016 Cote Rotie Ampodium, so it is the cuvée most consumers are likely to encounter. It's a fine example of the appellation, offering briary notes of ripe red fruit with spice and herb shadings. It's medium-bodied, silky and fine, with attractive notes of licorice and tea on the finish that give this entry-level wine more complexity than most.
Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate - 92 Points

2016 Cote-Rotie 'La Landonne'
Usually $349.00 - Special Offer $325.00

Subtle notes of baking spices frame hints of tea, olives and raspberries on the nose of the 2016 Cote Rotie la Landonne. A paragon of elegance, it's medium to full-bodied, but silky from start to lingering finish. It's a wine that's pretty much guaranteed to make even the steeliest curmudgeon smile, as it's so bright, ephemeral and luscious. It's not the rich, ripe wine the 2015 is, but it's suave, complex and long.
Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate - 97 Points

2016 Cote-Rotie 'Cote Blonde'
Usually $379.00 - Special Offer $348.00

The 2016 Cote Rotie La Cote Blonde (from the lieu-dit of the same name—not a blend of sites) is a terrific effort. It blends the structure of la Viallière with the elegance of la Landonne, making it a truly complete and compelling bottle. Some mocha, black olive and meaty notes lend it a savory cast, while the palate is creamy and concentrated, firm but silky. It's medium to full-bodied, with a fine, licorice-tinged finish that lingers a good long time. It should drink well for 20+ years.
Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate - 98 Points
