Under the expert guidance of Charles Ballot since 2001, Domaine Ballot-Millot has built upon its exceptional Meursault-based legacy, which dates back to the late 17th century. It proudly encompasses five Premier Crus in Meursault: Perrières, Charmes, Genevrières, Bouchères, and Poruzots, alongside significant holdings in Chassagne, Volnay, Pommard, and Beaune.
Charles Ballot has strategically prioritised sustainable viticulture, implementing measures to reduce yields and enhance grape quality. The introduction of state-of-the-art techniques, including sorting tables and advanced pressing methods, has refined the winemaking process and ensured precision. The estate spans ten hectares, of which seven are dedicated to vineyards in Meursault, featuring superb old-vine material that contributes to the complexity and depth of these wines.
The meticulous approach to hand-harvesting, coupled with fermentation using indigenous yeasts, fosters a genuine expression of terroir. In the cellar, the emphasis is on crafting wines that exhibit finesse and clarity, moving beyond sheer power. The white wines typically undergo 12 months of aging in barrel with minimal new oak, followed by additional maturation in tank, allowing for a well-rounded representation of their origins.
Domaine Ballot-Millot has secured a prominent position in the region's viticultural landscape, recognised for producing exceptional wines that reflect a deep respect for Burgundy's land.
