Based in Rully, Domaine Vincent Dureuil-Janthial has become one of the most consistently respected estates in the Cote Chalonnaise. Since Vincent Dureuil assumed control from his father Raymond in 1994, working alongside his wife Céline, the domaine has steadily refined its approach, earning a reputation for wines of clarity, proportion and strong site definition.
The estate today covers roughly 20 hectares, anchored in Rully with additional holdings in Mercurey and small, highly prized parcels in Puligny-Montrachet and Nuits-Saint-Georges. Vine age is generally high, and farming is organic, with many parcels tended along biodynamic lines. Low yields and detailed, labour-intensive vineyard work form the foundation of the domaine’s style.
In the cellar, the approach is measured and largely hands-off. Fermentations are carried out with indigenous yeasts, sulphur is used sparingly, and the wines are bottled without fining or filtration. Whites are barrel-fermented and elevaged with modest new oak, with the goal of enhancing texture rather than overshadowing the vibrant fruit character. Reds are fully destemmed and handled gently, aiming to preserve perfume, purity and fine-grained structure.
Across both colours, the wines favour balance and transparency rather than scale. The Chardonnays are defined by energy and layered mineral detail. The Pinot Noirs show supple fruit, fine tannin and an underlying architecture that allows them to age with ease. Long regarded by peers and critics as one of the leading growers in the Cote Chalonnaise, Dureuil-Janthial is increasingly recognised for producing wines that comfortably sit alongside many from far more prestigious villages.
