Sorrenberg Vineyard was established in 1984. It is a 3 hectare vineyard at an elevation of 560 meters.
Although the vineyard is granitic it does have the advantage of being on the border where the granite meets the red mudstone, giving the soil greater water holding capacity and the wine structure.
The finesse and elegance of Sorrenberg wines can be attributed to the fact that it is one of the highest vineyards on granite soil in the Beechworth region. The varieties grown are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Gamay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Merlot.

2019Sorrenberg Cabernet Blend
Usually $60- Special Offer $55
The blend consists of 30-40% Merlot and Cabernet Franc, a touch of Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Carmenere with the remaining Cabernet Sauvignon. A low crop level is important to ensure the fruit ripens and achieves maximum flavour. Half of this Cabernet Sauvignon was fermented for 2 weeks on skins with plunging of the cap 4 times a day. The remainder of this wine was fermented for 4 weeks on skins before pressing. Natural yeast is used throughout. The wine undergoes oak maturation for 24 months before final blending and bottling without filtration.
The bouquet of the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc Merlot displays dark berries and cherries. The medley of dark fruits carry on to the palate and combine with refined tannin and elegant acid creating a balanced and rounded mouthfeel with lingering flavours. Although this wine is youthful, it is drinking well and will continue to intergrate and benefit with age.
The cellaring potential of this wine is at least 12 years.
