2020 Kerri Greens
We were extremely impressed when tasting the 2019's from Kerri Greens, one of the best value producers of quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir on the Mornington Peninsula. Obviously we weren't the only ones, with Halliday shortlisting them as one of the best new producers in the 2022 Wine Companion.
We have just received the 2020's which have glowing reviews and, at these prices, are sure to sell out quickly.

Winemaker Tom McCarthy (Quealy Wines) and viticulturist Lucas Blanck (Domaine Paul Blanck, Alsace) are a formidable duo working tirelessly to bring back to life the vineyards they manage on the Mornington Peninsula. With mandates of organics, sustainability and ‘treading gently’, their approach is respectful of their region and its history, yet with the youthful willingness to push boundaries. Their cracking wines are delicious, fresh and well priced.
The Wine Companion
The vineyards are managed with a strict viticulture regime aimed at quality, with sustainable practices including no irrigation, pruning techniques promoting longevity and fruit intensity not yields, mowing under vine to avoid herbicide, canopy management aimed at exposure, inter-row cover crops for nutrition and soil structure, and spray regimes using organic principles.
Off the vine, the winemaking follows a predictably similar line, additions are kept to a minimum using wild yeasts unhindered by initial additions of sulphur allowing the unique biology of the vineyard and season to have its impact. There is no rush to bottle and where possible it takes place without fining or filtration.

2020 Pig Face Chardonnay
Usually $32 - Special Offer $29
It’s about texture as much as anything but then the flavour profile here is sophisticated. This is a wine to sit and contemplate. Stonefruit and sea shells with the lightest kiss of smoky oak before a firm, convincing finish. It manages both lightness and presence. I like the way this wine presents now but then I like where it’s going too; it’s a wine of calm confidence.

2020 Hickson Chardonnay
Usually $42 - Special Offer $38
Tangy, tart, saline-laced chardonnay with some natural yoghurt lactic characters rolled in. Racy in the palate but stains it at the same time. Zingy, zesty, but creamy. Unusual, but compelling too. Savoury notes under all that citrus and pleasing sourness. Such a unique expression here. It feels good.

2020 Murra Pinot Noir
Usually $34 - Special Offer $31
From the Silverwood vineyard in Balnarring. Carbonic fermentation, raised in old barrels. No fining, no filtration, minimum sulphur. All good things in my book.
Amaro herb and bergamot perfume, spice, strawberry and watermelon. It’s light, but flavoursome, playful fine grained emery tannin, fresh and a little bit sappy, heaps of spice and subtle herbal bitterness, finishes with more of that delightful amaro tang and a dusting of tannin. Such bounce or joie de vivre or something along those lines.

2020 Foothills Pinot Noir
Usually $40 - Special Offer $36
Silverwood vineyard, sustainably managed by Kerri Greens since 2016. Gently handled, destemmed whole berries. 18 days on skins, matured for 1 year in puncheons, 25% new. A more structured offering compared to the Murra wine, all dark cherries, warm earth and some charry/meaty notes adding another layer of flavour. Full bodied, with grainy ripe tannins, great persistence and a pleasing bitter radicchio finish.
