We've been fans of these wines for some time and our regular readers would know all too well what we think of 2019 as a vintage in Chablis, absolutely stunning. The only issue with 2019 as with many great vintages is the volumes simply aren't high enough!
Every year, my appreciation for Benoît Droin's wines grows. To my palate, the combination of DIAM closures and élevages employing recently used and indeed occasionally new wood (though only up to 10%) means that these wines need a few years in bottle to show their best. But everything invariably comes together to impressive effect, and the wines age very gracefully indeed.

2019 Chablis 1er Cru 'Vaillons'
Usually $125 - Special Offer $115
Fresh lemon colour. Saline nose right from the start. Ripe enough to have, some floral touches to the bouquet as well. The same idea continues through on the palate, a little bit of spice from the ripeness, but without losing the lemon zest. Less determinedly dry than in, some years.
