Felton Road makes Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from their stunning vineyards in Central Otago. Working on a very minimalist approach, all wines are gravity fed in the winery to avoid pumping juice uphill, ferments all occur naturally with wild yeasts, and oak is very much a mere seasoning here, used sparingly to ensure the fruit shines. The resultant wines possess profound character and depth.

2020 Bannockburn Chardonnay

Aromas of elderflower and stone fruit, hints of pineapple and baking spice, concluding with chalk and stones. The palate is broad and encompassing with real power and concentration of fruit from this low yielding and cooler vintage. The luscious fruit weight is tempered by the vivacious acidity bringing closure and great length. A classic Bannockburn Chardonnay that is not fined or filtered thereby retaining all of its “somewhereness”.

2020 Bannockburn Pinot Noir
Usually $85 - Special Offer $75
Bramble, autumnal forest after rain and bright berry fruits lead the nose. Sweet fruit on the entry coats the mouth; immediately expansive and alluring. Incredibly balanced and harmonious with the fruit depth defining the immediate pleasure, but without the wine falling victim to being ‘fruit driven’. Silk laden tannins complete the mouthfeel and demonstrate an apparent boundless capacity to develop nuance and complexity. The harmony undoubtedly comes from the calibre of our four primely situated and respectfully farmed Bannockburn vineyards.

2020 Cornish Point Pinot Noir

Intense floral notes of lavender and violets along with plum, clove and dark chocolate. This smaller berried and earlier harvest at Cornish Point contributes saturating fruit, spice and hints of sandalwood on the palate. Brooding with serious intent amongst the black plum and mocha flavours, the entire package is utterly complete and there is no doubt time will reveal further complexity and intrigue.

2020 Block 3 Pinot Noir
Extremely Limited - $145
The nose contains all the characteristic array of complex aromatic notes we have come to expect from Block 3: exotic spice, dried herb, leather and deep, dark fruit. The first sip is captivating: how can a wine with such power and concentration be so enthralling yet ethereal? Further study is definitely required. It’s about balance and harmony, finesse and detail. The tannins are copious and muscular, but their chocolate coating tempers the decadence of the fruit. Wow!
