Yarra Valley pioneers, the de Pury family are renowned for wines of finesse and elegance, that epitomise the finest the region can produce. Produced from some of the oldest vines in the valley, these are long-lived wines made in tiny quantities. Yeringberg makes wines from the low-yielding vines re-established on the heart of what was one of the most famous vineyards of the nineteenth century. In the riper years, the red wines have a velvety generosity of flavour which is rarely encountered, yet never lose varietal character, while the Yeringberg Whites takes students of history back to Yeringberg's fame in the nineteenth century.

2019 Viognier

"Few producers can match Yeringberg's viognier. Harmony is the aspiration, achieved by picking fruit over 8 days, so there's acidity, freshness and ripeness. There's also wild fermentation in barrel, no mlf and maturation in large-format, used oak. Ripe stone fruit, apricot and kernel, with ginger cream drizzled in honey. All tempered by lemon zest acidity and lime marmalade tang. There's richness here, without heaviness. A lovely viognier."

2019 Chardonnay

"Flavour, creamy nougat richness, stonefruit, green banana and spice, but with a firm cut of grapefruity acidity. It’s a bold wine, though it’s not loose, and doesn’t rely on struck match stuff, more delivers an appealing hit of traditional Chardonnay goodness. Has something of a chalky feel, but smoothness and gloss too, with toast and biscuit spice on a fresh finish. It drinks very well now, and is likely at its best over the next couple of years."

2019 Cabernets

"55/13/10/10/9% cabernet sauvignon/ cabernet franc / merlot / petit verdot/ malbec, all up 23 months in oak with 38% new French barriques. This was tasted less than a month after it was bottled and while it's a very fine Yeringberg with its beauty on show, it's reserved and needs time to adjust and settle. Everything is in sync. Lovely aromas of violets, autumn leaves, mulberries and more. The medium-bodied palate is layered with fine, textural tannins, dazzled with fresh acidity and exceptional length."
