MW Wines is always excited to discover a new winery/winemaker creating exceptional cuvees. So we are very excited to share the first release from A&C Ainsworth Wines. Also just arrived is another favourite, Paralian Wines, who continues to produce wines of elegance and stature year after year. The critics agree that this is one to follow and get behind.
As both are building wineries, not much is made of each cuvee, so get in quick so you don't miss out.

Andy's time in the wine industry has been spent mainly behind the bar rather than supplying it. However, the many hours on the floor and in the bar at The Wine Library, Brawn, 10 William St, Winespeake, and now Bar Merenda have allowed him to taste, drink, and absorb the knowledge of exceptional wines. A combination with his time working with Filippo Rizzo at the idiosyncratic Lamoresca during 2014, 2015 and 2016 harvest seasons was an invaluable insight into wine production, giving him the experience to deliver a successful first vintage.

2021 Rose
Usually $51 - Special Offer $47
"The rose is made of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Shay’s Flat section of the Chapoutier vineyard. The fruit was picked 31 March at the same ripeness as I would pick for red wine, as it was my intention to make a gastronomic rose, of ample ripeness. I’d been drinking a lot of Clos Cibonne, Tour du Bon and an eye-opening bottle of Chateau Simone Palette to get my eye in. De-stemmed and crushed after an overnight skin soak and pressed straight to old barrique for fermentation and elevage. "

2021 Grenache
Usually $57- Special Offer $53
"Grenache is a variety I adore, so I was very excited at the prospect of being able tobuy some from the Landsborough Valley section of the Chapoutier Vineyard. The decision to ferment the grapes as 100% whole clusters as this is a motif across so many of my favourite Grenache wines. Picked on 7 April, we gave the whole clusters a gentle foot tread then covered the tank and left it undisturbed for a week. Fermentation was well and truly underway once we uncovered the tank, and a further two weeks of maceration with a single pump-over each day followed. The wine was pressed into a large, old foudre and rested here until bottling in February 2022."

With over46 vintages across the globe between them, Charlie Seppelt and Skye Salter launched somewhat of a passion project in Paralian Wines. With a focus on modern winemaking that offers immense fragrance and drinkability, this duo seeks to craft wines that celebrate distinguished sites in McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills. The wines are vibrant, fresh and undeniably delicious, and we're very excited to be able to bring you two of their outstanding examples of Grenache and Chardonnay today.

2021 Bowyer Ridge Chardonnay
Usually $54 - Special Offer $49
"Back again in 2021, after knocking off for a smoko in 2020.
Complex style of Chardonnay here with many layers and interesting things happening. It’s glossy and rich, almond and cashew, a little spice, white peach, lemon essence, firm grapefruity acidity, and a fine chalky texture. Powerful through the finish, but tight and flinty too. Flavour and savoury bits, rich but finely balanced. Excellent."

2021 Marmont Vineyard Grenache
Usually $47- Special Offer $42
"Blewitt Springs. Marmont vineyard.
Dark raspberry, aniseed, thyme, a little sweet spice, something of a coal-like earthiness. It’s supple and savoury, ripe fruit but with a saline and earthy edge, fine firm dusty tannin, and a juicy but slightly meaty character on a long finish. Very nice."
