Domaine Jules Desjourneys
"Longtime distributor of several of the Côte d'Or's most celebrated domaines, Fabien Duperray is today producing wines that are just as thrilling in the Beaujolais and the Mâconnais, demonstrating what is possible when neglected and under-appreciated appellations are lavished with the same care and attention in their viticulture, vinification and élevage as their more esteemed cousins in the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits"

Beaujolais
"'Duperray is crafting singular wines that exist in a context that's entirely their own, and if they fulfil all their youthful promise with bottle age – as I believe they will – there's no doubt that they will change how the Beaujolais is perceived forever'"

2015 Chenas 'Le Jugement Dernier'
Offer Price $129
"The 2015 Chénas unfurls in the glass with a lovely bouquet of crushed cassis, raspberries, potpourri and plums, mingling with subtle hints of the soil tones to come with bottle age. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and vibrant, with incredible depth and concentration, all the while retaining the remarkably crunchy vivacity of its fruit tones. It's beautifully balanced at pH 3.3."

2015 Moulin a Vent 'Les Michelons'
Offer Price $259
"The 2015 Moulin-à-Vent Les Michelons is more aromatically expressive than the Fleurie, bursting from the glass with an intense bouquet of cassis, mulberry, roasting game bird and wild blueberries. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and expansive, with a rich, fleshy attack, a deep and layered mid-palate and a broad, stony finish. Less tensile than the Fleurie, the Michelons is more voluminous but just as deep. It's thrilling to think how this wine will taste in ten years' time."

2015 Fleurie 'Sacre Graal'
Offer Price $239
"A blend of Dupperay's two parcels in Les Moriers and La Chapelle des Bois, the 2015 Fleurie is, if anything, more profound and slowly unfurls with aeration to reveal aromas of black raspberries, rose petals, licorice and Griotte cherry. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, satiny and multidimensional, with tangy balancing acids and a deep, super-concentrated core that almost entirely conceals its structuring chassis of tannins. This is shut down for the long haul, but its immense potential is nonetheless impossible to miss.."

2015 Moulin a Vent 'Le Styx'
Offer Price $229
"The 2015 Moulin-à-Vent is simply extraordinary, wafting from the glass with a kaleidoscopic bouquet of rose petals, raspberries, cassis, licorice, rich soil, dried flowers and subtle hints of asphalt. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, layered and satiny, with a supremely elegant profile and incredible depth and dimension. To attempt to parse its components—acid, tannin, fruit—is almost impossible, such is the wine's effortlessness and harmony."

2016 Moulin a Vent 'Le Styx'
Offer Price $229
"A cuvée that incorporates all of the Moulin-à-Vent lieux-dits that Duperray bottles separately in more plentiful years, the 2016 Moulin-à-Vent was sorted berry by berry to remove all hail-impacted fruit, a labor of love that resulted in derisory yields but remarkable quality. Unfurling in the glass with scents of dried rose petals, plums, raspberries, peonies and dark chocolate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with immense concentration, rich but powdery tannins and lively acids, displaying a strikingly complete, seamless profile and concluding with a long, pungently floral finish. This is one of the few contemporary Beaujolais to evoke the region's great wines from the inter- and post-War era."

Maconnais
"The irrepressible Duperray displays just as virtuosic talents in the vinification and élevage of his Mâconnais whites as he does with his Beaujolais reds, drawing on lessons learned in the company of Jean-François Coche, Arnaud Ente and Pierre Morey.....In any case, this is one of the few addresses in the Mâconnais that produced 2018s that rival and in some cases even surpass their 2017 counterparts, and everything here comes warmly recommended."

2017 Macon-Prisse 'En Chailloux'
Offer Price $74
"The 2017 Mâcon-Prissé is showing very well indeed, opening in the glass with notes of pear, crisp golden orchard fruit, peach, clear honey and fresh pastry. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, it's built around racy acids and chalky structuring extract. This has become even more tightly wound in the last year.."

2017 Pouilly-Fuisse
Offer Price $139
"As I wrote last year, Duperray's 2017 Pouilly-Fuissé is unusual, in that half of the fruit derives from schist soils and the other half from the clay-limestone terroirs that are more commonly associated with the appellation. "Most growers sell their grapes from schist to the négociants, but I like the fragrance it brings to the wine—if it's picked in a timely fashion," he observes. It is now a year later, and the wine is performing superbly, bursting from the glass with aromas of citrus zest, pear and peach, as well as pretty top notes of spring blossom and pastry cream, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny but incisive, with a tightly wound core and a long, penetratingly saline finish."

2017 Pouilly-Fuisse 'Vignes de la Cote'
Offer Price $189
"The 2017 Pouilly-Fuissé Vignes de la Côte has unwound a little since I last tasted it, unfurling in the glass with aromas of crisp orchard fruit, citrus oil and white flowers, mingled with hints of mint, nutmeg and fresh pastry. On the palate, it's deep, full-bodied and muscular, with considerable concentration and structuring extract, underpinned by bright acids. As I wrote last year, this is likely to number among the longest-lived of Duperray's wines this year, and it is worth a special effort to track down.."

2018 Macon-Verze
Offer Price $74
"From holdings at the top of the slope, exposed to the west, the 2018 Mâcon-Verzé unwinds in the glass with notes of pear, confit lemon, white flowers, warm bread and clear honey. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, it's fleshy and elegant, with a seamlessly layered mid-palate, bright acids and a saline finish.."

2018 Saint-Veran
Offer Price $119
"The 2018 Saint-Véran is excellent, unwinding in the glass with notes of crisp green orchard fruit, freshly baked bread and white flowers, mingled with hints of praline, crushed chalk and iodine. Medium to full-bodied, layered and precise, it's elegant and understated, with a seamless, harmonious profile. Crisp but concentrated, it's another rare 2018 that can go head to head with its 2017 counterpart."

2018 Pouilly-Loche
Offer Price $119
"Aromas of crisp orchard fruit, white flowers, orange oil and fresh bread preface the 2018 Pouilly-Loché, a medium to full-bodied, layered and multidimensional wine that's bright and concentrated, with lively acids and a long, saline finish. This has turned out brilliantly."

2018 Pouilly-Fuisse 'Vignes Blanches'
Offer Price $189
"Notes of crisp stone fruit, pear, freshly baked bread, white flowers and almonds, the 2018 Pouilly-Fuissé Vignes Blanches is medium to full-bodied, chiseled and electric, with tangy acids, impressive reserves of chalky dry extract and a long, intensely mineral finish. This is one of the most tightly wound wines in the range, and it's one that entirely transcends the stereotype of the vintage. It should prove notably long-lived."
