"The 2021 vintage marks a few milestones for Ravensworth: 20 years since its establishment; 12 years working with Imbibo; the first full vintage for Bryan Martin's son Lewis; the first vintage in their new winery; and perhaps most significantly, the welcome return of the full Estate Range after a pause in 2020. Judging by the quality in the glass, Bryan Martin didn't miss a beat. If anything, it seems the short break in production has inspired a further uptick in quality - something we didn't think was even possible! These 2021s are outstanding; concentrated, fragrant, pure and richly deserving of the praise Mike Bennie heaps on them (reviews below)."

2021 Estate Riesling

The Estate Riesling is sourced from mostly 25-year-old vines grown on granite soils at 650 metres elevation. After approximately 24 hours on skins, the fruit was direct-pressed to two ceramic eggs for fermentation and a year-long élevage with lees. It was then racked to old foudre where it rested before being bottled unfined and unfiltered

"Perhaps one of Ravensworth’s best wines each year, or one with highest interest. Cool as. That puckering texture! It’s a delight. Honey nut cornflakes, green apple, lime, halva, green herbs and pink grapefruit tang through it. That chew is delicious. The wine is fragrant, lots going on, it’s a treat to drink and feels destined for dinner tables, coming alive with food. Drinkability is through the roof and quiet complexity in tow."

2021 Estate Sangiovese

"What a thing. This is often a high water mark for sangio in Aus. Attractive pale garnet colour in the glass. Supple, sweet cherry set amongst bergamot tea (and tea tannin) with dried herbs, sour plum, licks of vanilla and a cool, faintly minty element. It’s lighter weighted than those words suggest, shy of medium weight, fine boned, structured and finishes long and with sweet spices. It’s not as chewy and firm as you’d expect, but the freshness and lift is lovely. Excellent, in a word."

"From the organic farmed estate vines of the Martin family in Murrumbateman. Matured in old puncheons and foudre.
Oh, beautiful. With concentration but coolness. Like a chamomile tea-soaked flannel on the eyes after too much sun. Red fruit, ripe and rich in the mix, floral lift, meadow herbs and fennel with gentle cinnamon spice notes – wonderful characters for scents and flavours. It feels sleek and lengthy, gentle but with a building framework of fine tannin lacing it all together. Superb."
