Since leaving Australia for France in 1998, Jane Eyre has carved out her place in Burgundy, working under Dominique Lafon, forging alliances with Benjamin Leroux and being crowned negociant of the year in 2020 by influential French wine magazine, La Revue du Vin de France. Now with over 20 years of experience in Burgundy, Jane has hit her stride in making beautiful wines from the region. Jane's 2021vintage Beaujolais and Burgundies are a delight and dramatically highlight her ability to craft intense wines of complexity and elegance. However, as a micro-negociant, the production of these wines is minimal and they won't hang around for long. Order yours now to avoid missing out.
"One new barrel out of 4.5. Mid lemon yellow colour. This has a touch of reduction on top of a cheerful ripe fresh apple. Very lively behind, zestful as the acidity refreshes rather than agresses. Lime notes at the back. Drink from 2024-2026." 88 Points Jasper Morris, InsideBurgundy.com
"New to the range the fruit comes from 2 parcels of old vines. The vineyard is grown organically. Given the cool growing season I decided to destem most of the fruit. We used 10% whole bunch to provide some more texture to what is traditionally one of the lighter Beaujolais crus. The wine is intended to be drunk young and many people will find a slight chill to this wine helps to highlight the freshness and delicacy. Most of this wine was aged in stainless steel tank with 10% going into older barrels. Bottling took place, on 16 November, as with most of our 2021s. 5 barrels." Importer Notes, Bentley Wine Company
"Jane’s traditional cuvée made from 90 year old vines, 60% whole bunch then two to three weeks on skins, raised in 500 litre barrels and bottled in July. Pale pretty purple, this is sensual and startling, really fine, very Fleurie, with just the right touch of acidity. Intense but not dramatically weighty." 91 Points Jasper Morris, insideburgundy.com
"The Fleurie this year goes back to the original blend of fruit coming from La Madone and Labourons. The cool, wet year led to my decision to destem most of the fruit. The usual whole bunch component of around 60% was dropped to 15%. The Labourons vineyard is now 90 years old and produces wonderfully aromatic fruit from small bunches." Importer Notes, Bentley Wine Company
"Very pale, bright crimson. Much meatier, more forward and more emphatic than her Côte de Beaune wines on the nose. Mmm, very tasty! Lots going on here. This has drive and fruit – even if not much tannin. Excellent balance and fruit and (not excessive) acidity. It’s juicy even if not that complex.' 16.5/20 Points Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com
"Medium, Destemmed, with no new oak for ageing. Bright mid purple. A slight reduction which cleans up, a little bit sombre before more red fruit. This is quite dry at the finish despite the dark red berry fruit. Not quite in place today. Good acidity. Much prettier fruit returns at the finish. Drink from 2025-2029" 88-89 Points Jasper Morris, InsideBurgundy.com
"The crop has been matured in 3 x 228 and 1 x 350 litre barrels, the latter one year old. A palish crimson colour. The nose is really perfumed, this is a fine discreet Beaune with nonetheless a bit of fruit weight beneath. Pure and pretty with attractive cherry notes. Good but not trenchant acidity. Drink from 2025-2030." 90-92 Points Jasper Morris, InsideBurgundy.com
"15% whole bunch vinification. Pretty mid red. Plenty of energy redcurrant, slightly stronger acidity and the whole bunches add quite a tingle at the back. Jane’s Gevrey-Chambertin shows the cherries of the vintage as well. Drink from 2025-2028" 89-90 Points Jasper Morris, InsideBurgundy.com
"20% whole bunch vinification. There was a more generous 2021 crop here in Les Corbeaux, providing enough fruit for three and a half barrels, one of them new. Multi-scented, really quite floral. More fruit behind, good depth, a little sucrosity in cherry style, with length. Drink from 2026-2031" 90-93 Points Jasper Morris, insideburgundy.com
"Medium, One barrel only. Very similar in color to the other wines, a pink to crimson. 30% whole bunch. All about the elegance on the nose, though there is more muscle behind, a bit of grand cru intensity. Bright red fruit is prominent in the attack but persists very nicely in and around the acidity, with the tannins entirely folded in. Drink from 2026-2033" 91-94 Points Jasper Morris, insideburgundy.com
