We have an amazing collection of Southern Rhone essentials from the fantastic 2020 harvest to share with you today. Make sure to order soon to avoid missing out.
"More moderate heat in July and August than in either 2018 or 2019, plus some blocked maturation in dryer parcels, extended the growing season a little, leading to a ‘classic’ September harvest. Quality is good in general in a supple, silky, tender style that will drink well soon but age well, too, over the medium term."

"Mainly old-vine (50–100 years) Grenache with 20% Mourvèdre and the balance Syrah and Cinsault. Aged in large old wooden casks.
Wonderful purity on the nose, crushed violets, fig and ripe red fruits. Very elegant nose, super-fine and delineated tannins. This shows real class and elegance, it's light on its feet but has great concentration behind it. Will drink young but also age extremely well."

Alistair Cooper MW, jancisrobinson.com
"Rich and fleshy, but with excellent tannin structure behind it, this is a very impressive modern style Chateauneuf. Plenty of preserved cherry and black raspberry fruit with notes of rosemary and thyme. Lovely silky texture until you reach the firm finish, which promises many more years of life."

2020 Chateauneuf-du-Pape
Usually $154 - Special Offer $142
"Dark red; an elegant curve runs across the nose, mulberry, raspberry jelly, laurel, thyme, dried herbs, the fruit very pure. The palate is sensuous, flows well, is articulate, bears Burgundian refinement, velvet tannins, is very stately. There’s a serene, gossamer, real stylish increase in depth, essence, running into a really good finish where the juice circulates freely, is bursting with life, energy, blood-iron, herbal notes, local ID on the aftertaste. This is pure, feathery, with good inner content, good balance, gives great access to its terroir..."

John Livingstone-Learmonth, Drink Rhone
"This great Chateauneuf combines the richness of the vintage with remarkable precision and vitality. Stacks of ripe damson plum, licorice and candied orange. Great tannin structure and lots of power on the full-bodied palate, with bitter chocolate and a stony character that builds at the very long, super-focused finish. From organically grown grapes."

2020 Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Clos des Papes'
Usually $299 - Special Offer $275
"Proprietor Paul-Vincent Avril expects to bottle 100,000 bottles of something approximating this "final blend," tasted out of foudre. A blend of 55% Grenache, 35% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah and other permitted varieties, the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape looked exceptional on this day, offering up scents of framboise and kirsch alongside dried flowers and Asian spices. Full-bodied yet weightless, silky and long, this is special stuff, complex and balanced."
