“Domaine Fabien Coche... is one of the most underrated sources of high-quality white Burgundy in the Côte de Beaune. Alain Coche took his time, leaving his wines on the lees to mature at a leisurely pace for two winters, and produced classically balanced, textbook Meursault that evolved beautifully in the cellar; today, his son Fabien follows suit, with a few small refinements: today, the Coche harvest takes two weeks, not one, with each parcel brought in at optimal maturity, and there are more larger-format barrels in the cellar alongside the regular Burgundian pièces. These are not stylized, flashy wines, and they aren’t as dramatic as some of the region’s more sought-after domaines on release, but readers with the patience to cellar them will be amply rewarded.”

2020 Bourgogne Blanc
Usually $94 - Special Offer $90
"Coming from 7 parcels of beautifully situated vines owned by the estate all within Meursault just below the village. This wine is whole bunch pressed then raised in a 3000 litre foudre before being moved back to stainless steel for 6 months in tank and bottled with no fining or filtration in January after a total of 16 months on lees. This is clearly not an average Bourgogne blanc with weight texture and character way above its humble appellation label. A Bourgogne blanc that delivers freshness and attractive Chardonnay fruit yet is also very complex and fine."

2020 Meursault 'Les Chevalieres'
Usually $229 - Special Offer $220
"Les Chevalieres lies just above the village of Meursault where the slope follows at the same altitude as the premier cru’s just a little further south. Chevalieres adjoins Les Luchets which is positioned against the top part of this lieu-dit. This shows a tiny bit of struck-match SO2 complexity. Despite the hint of reduction this showed lovely fine floral lift over what is clearly a very deep and rich wine showing obvious real old vine intensity. This is a real step up in intensity and character with the cooler site adding a little more acidity and lift to the wine. A fabulous village Meursault and an absolute steal compared to the $1,000+ cost of Chevaliers from his cousin. Buy a case."

2020 Meursault 'Les Luchets'
Usually $249 - Special Offer $240
"Les Luchets lies above the village quite high on the slope, which is where many of the younger vignerons favour for cooler more mineral wines terroir and better natural acidity. This vineyard is the ‘signature’ vineyard of his cousins, the Roulot family. The aromas seem to show a cooler aspect with more citric acidity lifting the fruit and lengthening the palate. This shows great structure and length finishing very long with a beautifully formed line of fruit on the palate. A wine to wait a few years for."

2020 Meursault 1er Cru 'Goutte d'Or'
Usually $379 - Special Offer $360
"From 80+ year old vines located in the middle of the appellation in one of its best 1er cru sites which gained its name from the from the tiny flint stones which glistened in the vineyard hence the name meaning drops of gold. Notably floral and lifted this wine shows excellent old vine intensity and lively acidity giving great shape and length to the palate. Finer and more racy than the Charmes this wine wants more time to show its best. A fabulous 1er cru by any standards."

"Every time I open a bottle of Germain, I find myself wondering whether I'm sufficiently vocal in my admiration for this estate, a winery that I have regularly characterized as Meursualt's most underrated domain... But what of the 2020s? In short, they're exceptional. Yields were good ("if someone offered me a deal whereby every vintage would work out like this, I wouldn't hesitate to sign on the dotted line," said Germain), and the wines are concentrated, chiseled and beautifully balanced. They're worth a special effort to seek out."

2020 Bourgogne Blanc
Usually $105 - Special Offer $99
"Outstanding, Top Value. This is also very bright and fresh with its aromas of spice, green apple and just sliced lemon. There is a bit more volume to the plump, round and seductively textured medium weight flavors that retain good definition on the saliva-inducing finish that offers unusually good depth and persistence in the context of what this is. Excellent and this would make a very good choice for an all-around house white."

2020 Meursault

"Outstanding. Smoky aromas of hazelnut, acacia blossom and white peach give way to super-sleek, intense and strikingly well-detailed medium-bodied flavors that possess a highly beguiling texture before culminating in a chiseled, focused and beautifully long finale. This understated effort is really quite lovely."

2020 Meursault 'Limozin'
Usually $234 - Special Offer $219
"Outstanding, Top Value. Slightly riper and definitely spicier aromas are comprised by notes of lemon zest, acacia blossom and a whiff of exotic tea. There is again a wonderfully textured mouthfeel to the rich and refined medium weight flavors that flash surprisingly good power on the lingering finish that really fans out as it sits on the palate. This is an excellent Meursault villages that should be approachable young."

2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru 'Les Fairendes'
Usually $269 - Special Offer $254
"Outstanding. Citrus and rosemary oil nuances are present on the ripe and fresh white orchard fruit aromas. There is fine volume to the caressing and enveloping medium-bodied flavors that display evident power on the sappy bitter lemon-inflected finish that offers fine depth and persistence. This is sufficiently pliant that it should be approachable young yet able to repay up to a decade of keeping."

2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge
Usually $129 - Special Offer $119
"A peppery nose of warm earth and dark pinot fruit gives way to equally vibrant and notably denser medium weight flavors that possess very good volume and a nicely refined mid-palate that contrasts somewhat with the solidly persistent if moderately rustic finale. This should evolve to be a quality Chassagne villages if given a few years of cellar time."
