Envinate are producers of some of the most exciting and interesting wines on the planet from one of the most unique places on the planet, Tenerife in the Canary Islands.
These wines display the unique volcanic soils and, to varying degrees, the Atlantic climate.

2021 is a challenging vintage in Tenerife, one of the years where the deft touch of the producer really matters. It's a vintage which will leave its share of grey hairs across all four of the Envinate crew.
For all the stress, the wines that have hit our shores are delicious across the board. Brilliantly transparent and backed by soaring acidity that will rival the 2020s. Unfortunately, in some areas, the conditions drastically reduced the crop. Such is life growing grapes in one of the wildest places on earth!
The final wines, particularly Taganan Blanco, Tinto, and Parcela Margulagua are as seductively fluid, expressive, and intense as ever, but as usual these are all available in tiny quantities!

BENJE
Refers to an area high above the cloud cover on the western edge of the Tiede volcano. It produces markedly different wines from the sappy freshness of the coastal zones but still carries the hallmark lightness of all of Envínate’s wines. Benje Tinto is straight Listan Prieto, Benje Blanco is Listan Blanco. Both are grown on a mixture of old ash and red clay at over 1000m above sea level.

MIGAN & PALO BLANCO
Both very old vine wines from the Valle de la Orotava zone, although they don’t bear the DO stamp. The old vines are trained in the Trezendo fashion: braiding new shoots over older ones until the vines begin to resemble dreadlocks weaving over the landscape. The terrain is flatter than Táganan and so more conducive to farming. Migan is two parcels of Listan Negro, both over 100 years old, while Palo Blanco is a single vineyard from the town of Los Realejos planted on black volcanic soils.

TAGANAN & MARGALAGUA
Both the name of a village on the very north eastern tip of Tenerife and a local term for a steep slope. Envínate make two reds and two whites from this village: Táganan Tinto and Blanco, which come from multiple old parcels and two crus, parcelas Campanario and Margalagua. All the wines are field blends containing a dizzying array of obscure, local varieties grown on very old bush vines in the steep volcanic soils overlooking the ocean.

TACORONTE-ACENTEJO
Home to the village of Santa Ursula this lies on the north eastern coast of the island of Tenerife. It's a relatively undeveloped region home to several hundred-year-plus-old vineyards of which Envinate is currently farming three. It shares some of the characteristics of Taganana, basalt base rock, streaks of iron-rich red soils, and a climate dominated by the north-east coasts' exposure to the Aliosis winds. But it's tucked slightly back from the coast and produces wines with a little less of the wildness of Taganana.
