Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue
"Of course, the 2021 vintage was a challenging year to start, but Lupatelli has already succeeded in producing some of the most perfumed, sensual, liberated young wines I've ever tasted at this address, so he appears to have hit the ground running."

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue is renowned for its exceptional wines. However, the winery has recently undergone some changes. Jean Lupatelli has taken over from the long-serving Francoise Millet as the new winemaker in April 2021. Lupatelli has made positive changes by extending elevage and tinkering with whole bunch fermentation. Despite the challenges of the 2021 growing season, Lupatelli has managed to produce some excellent wines. The lack of sunlight did affect the ripeness of the grapes, but the resulting wines are fresh, vibrant, and maintain the poise that this grand producer is known for.

2021 Musigny Blanc Grand Cru
Usually $2,399 - Special Offer $2,249
"The white Musigny was racked just before the harvest, now back in barrel. Clear pale colour even with a faint green reflection. Rather a beautiful gently perfumed nose, flinty yet fine, this year the Musigny Blanc does seem like grand cru quality. A little lemongrass and then a crystalline white fruit. Really promising."

2021 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru
Usually $1,699 - Special Offer $1,599
"50% whole bunch. A medium deep purple with a lovely perfume, some darker fruit, actually quite sensual. A middling weight of deep sensual fruit then a much livelier finish, some citrus notes, with a finish which is entirely in red fruit. Very persistent indeed. The de Vogüé holding is on the red Bonnes Mares soil with some depth, but the wine is lively and with a white pepper finish."

2021Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru 'Les Amoureuses'
Usually $1,999 - Special Offer $1,899
"3 barrels were made from 56 ares, which is about 12 hl/ha. Half the vineyard has been pulled out since for replanting. A full almost imperial purple. The nose has an ample generosity with all the come-hither charm of Amoureuses. In common with the other 2021s here, the Amoureuses has a wonderfully lifted finish, with a few of the orange inflected citrus notes, but a little more rounded and riper than the more angular Bonnes Mares. A fine long finish. A great debut."

2021 Musigny Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes
Usually $2,299 - Special Offer $2,149
"Three tanks were made, in order of picking, then assembled as there is no terroir logic to them, though this has changed for 2022. A fine bright and reasonably deep purple. Classy with just a touch of pepper. Less immediately compelling that some previous vintages, but it is growing steadily in the glass. There is a huge volume of red and black fruit intertwined with a fresh mineral streak running through the middle, supplying excellent length to complete the job. Splendid stuff! A firmer finish but there is plenty of time for that to resolve."
