The transition from mother to son continues, and Clément Boillot is shaping up to be an outstanding vigneron. Preferring to spend the maximum amount of time in the vines without neglecting the cellar, Clément is already running several thoughtful trials in both the vineyard (biodynamics, high trellising, etc.) and the winery (larger oak, amphora, etc.). He is obviously starting from a remarkable foundation: a superb set of Chambolle 1er Cru terroirs with an average vine age of over 80 years. And then there’s the equally remarkable track record of quality established by his mother. Combine all this with the energy and talent that Clément brings to the estate, and the future of Domaine Ghislaine Barthod looks extremely bright.
