Founded in 2009 by Manuel “Chicho” Moldes Marana, Bodegas Fulcro began as a humble family project in Salnes, where just half a hectare was tended for personal consumption. Chicho, deeply rooted in the local tradition, recognised early on the potential of Albariño to truly express the nuances of its site. Driven by passion and curiosity, he set out to craft wines that shine with authenticity and a sense of place.
Today, Bodegas Fulcro is celebrated for producing some of Spain’s most thrilling white wines. The Albariños are electric, mineral, vibrant, and unmistakably coastal, with each bottling reflecting unique soil profiles and maritime influence. Chicho’s commitment to old vines, low yields, indigenous yeasts, and a restrained approach in neutral vessels (500L demi-muids, foudres, and tanks) results in wines of striking clarity and character.
A Pedreira, the flagship Albariño, is a masterful blend from granite-based parcels, aged in both steel and cask for depth and finesse. Fulcro Equilibro, released later, comes from a single schist-based vineyard averaging 70 years old, offering remarkable texture and a mineral core. With each vintage, Chicho’s reputation grows, solidifying Fulcro’s place among the most exciting producers of white wine in Spain.
