"Sure, you can drink bigger names in Meursault, but you will seldom drink better wines than those of Jean-François Germain (today working with his daughter Lucie). The wines of this humble, discreet grower are deep and textured yet extremely mineral and complex; the product of high-quality, organic growing and long, natural ferments. Even by this grower’s standards, the 2022s here are quite something. Once again, they were some of the finest Côte de Beaune whites we tasted from this vintage. And while the domaine’s tariff has risen slightly, the Germain pricing continues to embarrass more than a few of his neighbours. To know that certain producers’ village wines cost more than Germain’s Meursault 1er Cru Perrières is a mind-blowing fact to ponder!"
