Acquired over five generations, Domaine Christian Moreau now maintains a collection of incredible vineyards across Chablis, including considerable portions of the Grand Cru sites 'Les Clos' and 'Valmur'. Led by Christian Moreau, with son Fabien now managing the estate and undertaking winemaking duties, the domain has risen to be considered a leading Chablis producer.

2019 Chablis

The 2019 Chablis Village is matured in stainless steel tank for 10 months. It has a tightly wound bouquet with scents of orange blossom and a touch of tinned apricot; good delineation here. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, and lively from the start, offering plenty of citrus fruit joined by desiccated orange peel and a touch of spice on the finish. Excellent.

2019 Chablis 1er Cru 'Vaillon Cuvee Guy Moreau'

The 2019 Chablis Vaillon 1er Cru Cuvée Guy Moreau is matured in 1- to 4-year-old barrels for 12–14 months. It has a lovely bouquet, quite complex, the orange pith and lemon verbena combining nicely with flinty scents. The palate is well balanced with an energetic opening, a slightly honeyed texture and a judicious dab of spice. Very harmonious all the way through to the finish. There is a sense of panache about this Vaillon that is very compelling.

2019 Chablis Grand Cru 'Valmur'

The 2019 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru was cropped at 25hl/ha from 45- to 70-year-old vines and matured in a mixture of 1- to 4-year-old barrels, for bottling in 2021. This has a very perfumed and slightly better-defined bouquet than the Blanchot. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, ripe but tense with superb mineralité already in evidence. Focused all the way through to the lingering finish, this is an outstanding Valmur in the making.

2019 Chablis Grand Cru 'Les Clos'

The 2019 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru yielded 35hl this year and is matured 50% in new and used barrels and the rest in tank. It has a well-defined bouquet with precise scents of yellow flowers, struck flint and smoke...The palate is fresh on the entry with crisp acidity, taut and focused and full of energy. The Clos des Hospices has more depth and intensity on the finish, so overall it has the upper hand, but this is a serious Les Clos that will give 20–25 years of drinking pleasure.
