2019 Clonale Chardonnay
Usually $31 - Special Offer $28
No complaints here.
Mid intensity, mid complexity, a general elegance and sound length. This has been nicely put together. Nectarine, honeysuckle, a semblance of oyster shells and a glide of peachy/nutty flavour through the finish. Everything is in good order now though I suspect that it’ll be better again in another 6-12 months.

2019 Estate Chardonnay
Usually $40 - Special Offer $36
Mornington Peninsula chardonnay.
I like this wine a lot, it’s beautiful, it has that effortless flow, I poured it into a standard glass and from the first sip I was looking around for a larger-bowled stem, it has the reach to fill it. It’s a wine of quartz and white-fleshed stone fruit, oak-spice and honeysuckle/custard, and while it’s not big or in-your-face it spreads as it runs, it’s like white sheets flying in the breeze.

2019 Massale Pinot Noir
Usually $31 - Special Offer $28
Better suited to drinking than it is to contemplation.
This release is in good form, not great form. It puts a savoury, slightly reductive edge on light, cherried fruit, its woody spice notes a key part of the presentation. It drinks well with food because it has far more length than breadth. Its dry, sinewy feel complements this impression. It’s not a wine really suited to reviewing; it’s more for drinking, at the dinner table. In that setting it works a treat.

2019 Estate Pinot Noir
Usually $49 - Special Offer $43
The estate Pinot Noir from one of the Mornington Peninsula’s flag bearers.
It’s a wine defined by its shape. It angles towards the finish and then pushes on out; the pulleys are in place from the beginning. Twiggy spice, a general woody/savouriness, dark cherry and a light coating of cedar. I wouldn’t call it taut but I would call it firm and indeed strict. It’s as though the wine’s flavour run on converging rails. It’ll be a better drink in a year or more.
