Chris Catlow is quietly emerging as one of the great winemakers of Beechworth. Born and raised in the region, a passion for wine naturally developed. In his late teens, Chris worked for Barry Morey of Sorrenberg before taking multiple roles on the Mornington Peninsula, where Sandro Mosel ignited a fascination with Chardonnay and terroir. Under the tutelage of these Australian wine greats and with immense innate talent, Chris set his sights on Burgundy to work with micro negotiant Benjamin Leroux. His best is yet to come. Watch this space.
Company Wine is Chris' small production label that centres on the varieties with a natural affinity to Beechworth. No surprises that Chardonnay, Shiraz and Nebbiolo are a focus here. Complex, delicious and overwhelmingly drinkable, these are not to be missed.

2018 Chardonnay
Usually $54 - Special Offer $49
There’s a boat out there and its name is Elegance. This wine sits up front of that boat, the sea calm, sliding. Indeed the difference between this chardonnay and the equivalent Sentio offering is quite something. You could build a masterclass around this difference. This wine is all float and charm. There’s a nashi pear aspect to the stone fruit, a subtle mineral water edge, a gentle grilling to the open-cut nectarine. As you swallow the flavours begin to draw but then in a rush the curtains swing back and the flavours lean out and on.

2017 Shiraz
Usually $44 - Special Offer $39
As Campbell Mattinson puts it, "a firm handshake of a wine". A good medium bodied Shiraz made in the Rhone Valley style, enjoying the cooler climate of Beechworth. "Complex in nature but accessible without question."

2017 Nebbiolo
Usually $65 - Special Offer $59
Sourced from Pete Graham's Domenica Vineyard high on the granitic soils of Beechworth.
Good colour and aroma and convincing on the palate. Convincing as in it tastes authentic and varietal. It’s dry and savoury but as it breathes dark fruit rises as if from out of nowhere. Earth, licorice, tar and menthol. Herbs, dried. Very little sign of oak. Still a pup. Lovely wine.
