Domaine Roland Lavantureux

As every year, a number of wines were showing modest accents of oak – but that’s not unlike chez Raveneau – and most of that will already be gone in another 6 months or-so. But seriously great wines in 2018 – of freshness, of vibrant energy, and even a little of the salinity that is so rare in 2018.
Bill Nanson, The Burgundy Report
Roland Lavanturuex bottled the first wines of this domaine in 1979 and the decades have seen this estate grow from 2 hectares to 20. The ship is now being steered by sons Arnaud and David who are making tense wines with great drive and definition. We're very happy to have received our first allocation of these wines but volumes are limited so get in fast to avoid missing out.

2018 Petit Chablis
Usually $50 - Special Offer $46
Big, energetic, lots of energetic minerality – that’s lovely, open and a match for many Chablis in 2018 – a little twist of salinity in the finishing flavours too. Bravo – a great finish!
Bill Nanson – The Burgundy Report
David Lavantureux is making some very stylish Chablis from his base in Lignorelles. This is a case in point, entirely sourced from south-east facing slopes close to the winery. Sappy, bright and grapefruity, with good mid-palate texture for an entry-point wine and refreshingly low alcohol.

2018 Chablis
Usually $64 - Special Offer $58
A touch of wet walnut accompanies pear and lemon on this wine's fresh nose. Vivaciousness at the core belies the heat of the 2018 vintage. Yes, there is concentration and some midpalate weight, but salty, preserved-lemon freshness dominates the wine and bright finish.

Anne Krebiel MW, Wine Enthusiast
The 2018 Chablis Village, matured for 12 months in 80% stainless steel and 20% used oak, has a vibrant, fresh, classic Chablis nose that many other growers were not able to achieve in this warm year. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, vibrant and zesty, showing a touch of spice on the elegant finish. This must surely be one of the finest Chablis Village of 2018.

2018 Chablis Vieilles Vignes
Usually $66 - Special Offer $61
From 3 parcels in Lignorelles – vines planted by grandfather – 50-60-year-old vines. Here with 40%-barrel elevage, all the higher crus with 50%. A touch of floral notes over a little vibration of minerality. Wide, slowly mouth-filling, so intense finishing, with width. Ooh, that’s super and with a proper salinity. Bravo!
Bill Nanson – The Burgundy Report
Pale primrose. This has a little more weight of fruit up front, more class than the regular Chablis. It comes from 3 plots in Lignorelles, mostly on Portlandian soil. Some lemon drops behind, good acidity, medium depth.

2018 Chablis 'Vauprin'
Usually $77- Special Offer $70
The 2018 Chablis Vauprin comes from 1.7ha of 25-year-old vines and is raised for 12 months in 50% oak barrels and 50% stainless steel. It has a very harmonious bouquet of yellow flowers, mirabelle, crushed rocks and light hazelnut aromas that attain impressive intensity with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity; there is real tension and race here. The finish fans out wonderfully and its persistence deserves applause considering the relatively unknown location of this vineyard. Highly recommended.

2018 Chablis 1er Cru 'Fourchaume'
Usually $105 - Special Offer $95
Too steep for animals here and slippery too – so everything done by hand. A wide nose, half mineral and saline. Bigger – full, framed with fresh, melting acidity, insinuating delicious flavour. Very long – that’s another great 2018!

2018 Chablis 1er Cru 'Vau de Vey'
Usually $99- Special Offer $92
The 2018 Chablis Vau de Vey was cropped at 58hl/ha and matured in 50% barrels and 50% stainless steel for 12 months. It has a clean, pure bouquet of yellow plum, orange pith and light crushed stone notes. The palate conveys energy right from the start, revealing hints of blood orange and quince, racy acidity and an elegant, very persistent finish that lingers in the mouth. Superb.

2018 Chablis Grand Cru 'Vaudesir'
Usually $169 - Special Offer $156
Chalk, wax, smoke and lemon are intense on this wine's nose, immediately conveying that it is not about fruit but rather stone and place. The same goes for the palate where a dense texture redoubles on that chalk and smoke. But everything is brightened and pulled into delicious focus by lemon freshness. This wine has poise, elegance and subtlety. 97 Wine Enthusiast, Anne Krebiel MW A fuller if still pale yellow. The nose shows the sunshine and considerable weight of fruit. A little bit of wood too. The Vaudésir offers hugely more intensity than Bougros, and while the wood needs to integrate (which it will), there is a long steely finish awash with limestone.
