Jayden Ong, sommelier/bar owner turned winemaker, has set up a small family-owned winery in the Yarra Valley. As a finalist for 'Young Gun of Wine' in 2019 and 2021 and garnering some very impressive reviews for his range from critics, he is one of the 'new generation' in the region to watch closely.

From a single block in the Tibooburra vineyard, the 2019 One Block 'Yellingbo' Shiraz shows brilliantly in the glass. Crystal clear dark cherry, blackberry, and cracked pepper followed by scintillating acid and minerality. Beautiful structure and balance here. Incredible value.

2019 Le Maison de Ong 'Lantern' Pinot Noir

This bright purple coloured 2019, a little more translucent than the previous vintage, exhibits a complex nose of red and black fruits, dark spice, underbrush, and ripe plum. Medium bodied with with great shape and structure, it is long in the mouth with ripe tannins. Balanced and textured, with ethereal qualities, this wine will benefit from a decant and can be enjoyed over the next 10 years. Bottled unfined & unfiltered.

Hand-picked, 30 days on skins, pressed to a mixture of seasoned and new (30%) puncheons, aged 14 months, unfined and unfiltered. A proponent of minimal intervention, winemaker Jayden Ong has fashioned a voluptuous, no-frills winemaking kind of syrah that shines with near-perfect fruit intensity. Laden with ripe tannins and fine-trimmed oak, the dense, black, high-spiced fruit is allowed the freedom to express itself beautifully.
