Known for crafting some of the greatest and most sought after expressions of red Piedmontese grape varieties, the tireless Luciano Sandrone and his family have once again produced something extraordinary in their latest release. Across the board from the aromatic Dolcetto d'Alba to the powerful yet elegant Barolo 'Vite Talin' (97-99 Points), the offering here from Sandrone is incredible.
The volumes available are incredibly minimal, so make sure you order now to avoid disappointment.

This is a set of gorgeous wines from the Sandrone family. Once again, I was so impressed with Le Vigne, a Barolo that sometimes flies under the radar here. Sandrone fans will not want to miss the latest release of the Vite Talin, the newest addition to the range. That wine is sourced from vineyards planted with a heavily virused Nebbiolo clone that produces unnaturally low yields and a Barolo of tremendous character.

2020 Dolcetto d'Alba DOC
Usually $45 - Special Offer $41
The 2020 Dolcetto d'Alba is fresh, bright and nicely lifted. In this vintage, the Dolcetto is aromatic and medium in body. The combination of the year and a stylistic shift yielded an especially classic Dolcetto that will come as a shock to anyone who has been following the estate since the 2000s, give or take, when this wine was usually opulent and dense. Red cherry/plum and floral accents linger.

2019 Barbera d'Alba DOC
Usually $74 - Special Offer $69
The 2019 Barbera d'Alba is pure seduction. Silky and plush, with lovely red berry fruit, spice and floral notes, the Barbera is wonderfully expressive today. Here, too, readers will find a much more restrained style than in the past.

2017 Barolo 'Le Vigne' DOCG
750ml Bottle - Extremely Limited $289
Magnum - Extremely Limited $589
Fragrant and delicious, this gorgeous wine opens with inviting aromas of rose, sandalwood, camphor and perfumed berry alongside whiffs of truffle and French oak. The full-bodied palate combines elegance and structure, featuring ripe Morello cherry, crushed raspberry, licorice and a dollop of vanilla alongside firm, refined tannins. It's already tempting but hold for more complexity.

2015 Barolo 'Vite Talin' DOCG
Extremely Limited $949
What an exceptionally fine creation this is, the 2015 Barolo Vite Talin. It is soft and generous, with great concentration, and the dark fruit shows more fleshiness in the mouth. The tannins have become softer in the 2015 edition. While the 2014 could be described as wild and robust with its spicy, herbal and meaty notes, this Barolo Vite Talin is all about elegance. It is simply beautiful, a feather in any cellar's cap. A mere 2,200 bottles were made.

2011 Barolo 'Cannubi Boschis' Sibi et Paucis DOCG
Extremely Limited $399
The 2011 Barolo Cannubi Boschis is super impressive. Early signs of aromatic nuance have started to develop, but just barely. More than anything else, the 2011 impresses for its body and pure depth, both of which the 2011 has in spades. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice and spice all build as this dramatic Barolo shows off its allure. The 2011 has aged beautifully. I would prefer to drink it over the next decade. This is a re-release from the winery.
