"The small number of 2020s that we have been able to taste thus far have been exciting. 2020 is crisp, a bit sleeker and more elegant than the 2018 vintage, not quite as powerful as 2019. The wines of 2020 are not big, meaty wines; they are juicy, succulent and draw you in. The moderate alcohol levels coupled with high extracts and good structure will make for excellent near and long term drinking. Growers described 2020 as the most elegant of the last 3 vintages and more “friendly” than 2017, which had higher acidity."

"The 2020 Rothenberg GG opens very clear, fresh and aromatic with elegant, ripe stone fruit aromas intertwined with a delicately smoky mineral spiciness. Round and beautifully juicy on the palate, this has very fine grip and a somewhat lactic creaminess that I found rather atypical for this Rothenberg that normally bursts with tension. I'm curious to follow the 2020 over the next couple of years, but at this early stage, it doesn't grab me like the 2019 did. Tasted in Wiesbaden at the end of August 2021."

"If you have enough patience, this will turn into one of the greatest dry rieslings of the vintage. A tight rose bud in the nose and on the front palate, but then the wine expands in an almost supernatural fashion as it flows over the palate. Staggering minerality at the totally focused finish.
