2021 1er Yarra Valley Chardonnay
Usually $69 - Special Offer $65
"A good year for the Yarra Valley, and perhaps a more powerful iteration of 1er Chardonnay as a result.
Nectarine, lemon zest, aniseed, some spicy cinnamon oak, but also very saline and savoury. It feels chalky, with grapefruity acidity through more nutty flavours, very tight and intense, though no shortage of flavour and length. A certain amount of width through the palate, and yet feels linear and stretches out with gently oxidative and salty character. Very distinctive, almost a Jura-like thing happening, which is all very nice, and it runs slightly peppery in the aftertaste. Excellent."

2021 1er Yarra ValleyPinot Noir
Usually $69 - Special Offer $65
"13.2% alcohol eh? Makes a change. Hoddles Creek Pinot is one of the few Australian Pinots I buy with some regularity, so make of that what you will.
It’s so calm and seductive, and while it shows a little more creamy spicy biscuit oak than usual, or so I think, it’s nothing overt. Aside that, red cherry and red berries, spice, mint and floral top notes, with silky fine tannin, though they offer a distinct ‘mineral’ character, with a crushed stone sort of thing, and some more earthy/savoury flavours. Not at all sweet, maybe even a little bony, though the red fruit is ample. The finish is very long, a tight tannin dusting as it goes. Probably the best vintage of 1er Pinot since 2015."

2020 Syberia Chardonnay
Usually $79 - Special Offer $71
"What a run this Syberia Chardonnay has had on TWF, see here. There’s gold in them thar hills. Anyway, a cool year, from the coolest block at Hoddles, hence the name I guess. Less oak than the 1er, and bottled in the same year, waiting for it to come around.
Cool, spicy and citrus laden, ginger with a certain umami flavour, some porcini and chicken stock broth. Tight, spicy and saline, distinctly powdery and chalky, a ripcord of citrus acidity, Japanese ginger, and a brisk and tight finish of excellent length. Intense and uncompromising, and really good. I like it a lot."

2021 Reserve Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir
Usually $120 - Special Offer $115
"The first reserve release from the D.M.L. crew. It’s from a single Mornington Peninsula vineyard, and it’s a barrel selection from there (the best three).
It’s a complete wine. It’s so beautifully ripened that it’s difficult to see where the fruit ends and the savouriness begins, so easily does each flow into and through the other. Strawberries and herbs, cedarwood and undergrowth, with perhaps a slight dip into plum. There’s a minerally, smoky, graphite-like aspect to the tannin, which itself is both firm and sheeted, like a hotel bed, everything drilled precisely into place. This is an Australian Pinot Noir that will prove immensely age worthy; everything here speaks of excellence."
