"Dense purple with a nutty character to the nose that hides the immediate fruit. In these grown-up appellations one rather loses sight of the whole bunch component. There is real energy at the back and now the stems do come into play with their white pepper tingle and some rose petal aromatics around the dense black fruit."

The expressive bouquet features a crushed-violet-infused melange of red and blue fruit, very Vosne-like in style. The palate is thickly textured with firm grip, fresh and vibrant. The slightly muscular finish suggests this will give 15-20 years of drinking pleasure. Superb."

"The 2019 Vosne-Romanee Selection Pre-Colombiere has a rich, generous bouquet ofkirsch, cassis and pressed violet. There is real depth to these aromatics considering that it is a Village Cru. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, and more marine-influenced than the Vigneau, revealing oyster shells on the finish. Excellent."
