2021 Petit Chablis

"This Petit Chablis comes from a few parcels near his winery located on the plateau that sits just above the Grand Cru slope and the great vineyard, Montée de Tonnerre. This wine is exceptional every year and quite frankly I have yet to taste a better Petit Chablis especially at the price - the 20201 vintage in Chablis has produced wines with a nice tight crispness and good verve - this always has great zest and drive!"

2021 Chablis 1er Cru 'Mont de Milieu'

"The Mont de Milieu is one of my very favorite Chablis vineyards and is relatively unknown, it sits on the right bank of the River Serein and produces discreet wines with irresistible fragrance and gorgeous texture. This doesn't have the immediate power of Montée de Tonnerre but it makes up for that in elan - it has an exqusite floral lift that sets it apart. The soil here is much deeper than you will find with most of the premier crus across the river on the left bank (Vaillons, Montmains, Foret and Butteaux) but not deeper than the heavy limestone soils of Montée de Tonnerre or the even deeper soils of the Grand Crus. This wine has the chisel and is a real beauty!"

2021 Chablis 1er Cru 'Montee de Tonnerre'

"This 2021 Chablis Montée de Tonnèrre is, again, very impressive indeed. I prefer 2021 to 2020 in Chablis as, although the wines are not as dense, the wines have the typical cut and verve for which they are famous. The vineyards famous heavy limestone marl soils give gravitas and amplitude. Intense and impeccably balanced, it shows a crystalline purity, nuance and serious depth. Coming from Chablis finest 1er Cru vineyard (just next to Grand Cru Blanchots) the wine displays superb pedigree and harmony. As approachable as this is now, don't forget to put some away for a few years."
