Domaine Clusel-Roch is a tiny family-run winery comprising husband and wife Gilbert Clusel, Brigitte Roch, and their son Guilhaume. 2019 Cote-Rotie 'Les Schistes'

"Dark red; there’s good clarity in the bouquet, but a low-key expression for now, just a fine line of red berries, discreet rose petal. The palate delivers an en finesse, restrained opening, holds compact, sure depth richness, a firm couch underpinning it. It lengthens well, freshly, keenly. The aftertaste is cool, sparked, with some intense juice buried within. This will gradually unfurl, is naked, but has good body, iron-blood within, interest present."

2019 Cote-Rotie 'Les Grandes Places'

"Dark red robe; there is a major mission of spark, cordite, on the nose, blue fruit, raspberry, very cool on the interior. The palate groups around its iron-laden, firm content, has an extended spine, real drive and thrust into its rocky finish, much tannic rockiness there. There’s the real essence of rocks on the palate here. Les Grandes Places always has the stature of a Grand Vin - this year it’s right there. It’s very prolonged and always cool to the line, will be of major interest from 2028. There is great poise in its length, much lingering from that. This is grandiose."
