2020 Rosso di Valtellina DOC

Made from 100% Nebbiolo from vines over 50 years old that grow at altitudes over 350 metres above sea level and slowly macerated for two months, then left to age short term in old oak to retain freshness and vibrancy. This wine bursts out of the glass with bright red fruit and savoury alpine herb notes. The palate is medium weight but intensely concentrated with silky tannins on the finish. A great example of drink-now Nebbiolo.

"Very fine, pure, ultra-mineral expression of Nebbiolo here. Strawberry, raspberry, spice, fennel, mint and stones. It’s bright and very tight, with fine crushed rock tannin, red fruits and orange peel, even some bergamot tea perfume. Finish is long and firm. You can almost feel an alpine breeze running through your hair as you taste it (that is, assuming you have hair, otherwise maybe around the nape of your neck)."

"Cherry, blackberry, plum, dried mint, spicy too, and kind of peppery, but rich fruit is the message. Medium-bodied, stony and intense, almond and dried flowers, panforte, a dark chocolate and orange bitterness, fine sandy tannin, and nutty cherry flavours on a long and stony finish. It has power, but it keeps itself fresh and lively. A wine of distinct and persuasive personality."
