Francois Chidaine
Francois Chidaine is one of France's most exciting white wine makers. This is Chenin Blanc at its zenith, tasting nothing like the stereotype of the grape variety, but rather acting as a conduit through which the vineyards can express themselves.

2019 Montlouis Sur Loire 'Clos Habert'
Usually $99 - Special Offer $89
"From a soil composed of clay and coarse flint elements covering the subsoil made up of tuff, the 2019 Montlouis sur Loire Clos Habert opens with a very fine and delicate bouquet of finely concentrated yellow-fleshed fruit aromas along with herbal and flinty notes. Round and intense, with perfectly ripe fruit, fine tannins and delicate acidity, this is a sustainably intense and salty Chenin that is far too young to be served today but will age for some decades. Tasted in March 2021."

2020 Vin de France 'Les Argiles'
Usually $95 - Special Offer $85
“From deep clay soils, there’s a richness on the mid-palate and rounded edges that are further shaped and curved by fermentation and maturation in demi-muids. It’s a mid-weight style that offers plentiful concentration, remarkable freshness and mouthcoating grip. The finish is gourmand and textural with subtle apple pie notes lingering.”

2020 Montlouis Sur Loire 'Les Choisilles'
Usually $109 - Special Offer $95
"Made in the same way as the Clos de Breuil, this feels almost dainty by comparison. It opens with honeysuckle, white peach and yellow pastille infused by the salinity and mineral nuance we so often find in this wine. The palate is supple and long, the flavour rich and the texture laced with tension. It finishes with sweeping, glossy citrus, lingering minerality and grip. Les Choisilles can sit on the quiet side when young. Not this time; it’s so delicious and will drink well from the get-go."

2020 Montlouis Sur Loire 'Les Bournais'
Usually $119 - Special Offer $109
“I like the aromatics here, softly presented and suggestive of crushed orange and peach. There is an immediately apparent sense of rhythm on the palate which is richly textured with a sinewy build and plenty of phenolic grip. This has the advantage of a dry grip, although it is the sense of bitterness rather than the acidity that pushes it along. Very good.”
