"Saturated magenta. Displays expressive red and dark berry, smoked meat, olive and floral qualities on the spice-accented nose. Sappy and penetrating on the palate, offering gently sweet cherry-cola, blackberry and baking spice flavors that show fine detail and a mineral, back-end lift. Finishes very long and subtly chewy, with repeating smokiness, harmonious tannins and strong persistence."

2019 Crozes-Hermitage 'La Guiraude'

"Dark, shiny red; sweet-noted bouquet, ripe blackberry fruit, coulis in style, lingers nicely. It has an inner touch of iron, thyme, herbs. The palate is soft, continuous, stylish, bears pedigree content and tannins that fit in with silk, no effort. This is a top Crozes 2019, has come through episodes of hail and gives a Burgundian style elegance with a Rhône filling. Its early flourish will tone down, and it’s one for the mid to long term."

"Glass-staining ruby. Cassis, cherry-cola, olive paste, exotic spices and pungent flowers on the highly expressive nose. Shows impressive depth as well as energy to its sweet black and blue fruit, allspice, saltyolive and candied violet flavors, which take on a mineral aspect with air. Youthfully chewy tannins add gripto an impressively long and focused finish that emphatically repeats the floral and mineral notes. I've nodoubt that this wine will reward patience, and my drinking window is probably overly conservative."

2018 Crozes-Hermitage 'La Guiraude'

"Deep red colour; the bouquet carries a measured elegance, a cluster of red fruits, raspberry and mulberry, with restrained sweetness present. The palate is well freighted, holds a firm mass of matter, with solid tannins in attendance. There is a partial release of intense juice, but this is a long-term wine, best left until 2026 or so. The balance is good, and it will evolve very well over 25 years. Time is needed to coax it out."
