Frankland Estate

"Riesling is the Frankland Estate signature grape, and gee they do a good job of it. Very different to most Australian Riesling too.

Pie apple, lime, plenty of spice, mint and aniseed. It’s chalky, rich in flavour, all lime and apple, with a nutty and chalk dust texture, lots of oomph, almost into Chardonnay weight, with a slight petrol perfume, and excellent length. Crushed fennel seed, guava and apple on the finish. Powerful and very ‘mineral’. Lime zest and Parmesen rind too. Lots of grip. Loads of personality. Terrific."

Farr Rising

The 2022 Farr Rising Gamay is a meticulously crafted and structured wine from one of Victoria's most iconic wine families. A magnificent Gamay that expressesluscious red berries, delicate florals, and a touch of spice and culminates in a velvety texture and persistent finish. Fantastic stuff once again from Nick Farr.

Bannockburn

"Inaugural release of a gamay from Bannockburn. It was grown on vines that were planted in 2014, they were only grafted over to gamay in 2019. It was fermented, wild, with 100% whole bunches (cab mac) and then, while still fermenting, was destemmed and pressed to one-year-old oak.

This is a gorgeous wine to drink. It’s especially gorgeous if you don’t mind some reductive characters, which are overt at first though they gradually blow off, or largely so. It’s spicy, floral, exuberant in its strawberry-cherry flavours, blessed with garden herb/earth/woodsmoke characters – it’s wildly complex – but all the while it stays true to the main mission, which is to be a light red of immesh drinkability. This is a winner."

Sailor Seeks Horse

"I come for the fruit, I stay for the complexity. Pure, ripe, cherry-plum fruit, remarkable at 12% alcohol, comes littered with turned earth, sweet herb, cedarwood oak and undergrowth. There’s some sweet-sour action, some musk, a creaminess to the mouthfeel and ultra fine-grained tannin. It feels a bit washy, a bit water-colour-based, in a good way. It’s very good."

Craiglee

"The “Eadie” is made from fruit grown in our paddock on the southern side of Jacksons Creek, named for the family who first planted vines on the spot in 1863.
It is bright crimson in colour with aromas of blueberry and plum, and fine tannins to support the spicy flavours combining to make an elegant savoury wine."
