"A blend of upper and lower Yarra Vineyards - Clones P58, I10V1 and Dijon clones 76 and 95 - from three vineyards in Steels Creek, Seville and Macclesfield... Comprised of four sites across the Yarra valley (Upper and Lower), this rendition is simply gorgeous straight out of the gate. The wine opens with delicate peach and lemon curd aromas, a touch of struck match and toasted almonds give complexity to the bouquet. The palate is generous and textured with orchard fruits, butterscotch and lemon. The acidy is fresh with a saline character which carries the fruit to a long finish." Winery Notes
"'Sur le Crete' means on the ridge. Single vineyard Pinot noir grown at 179m above sea level in the rich red volcanic soils or Red Hill on the Mornington Peninsula. Wild fermented, 30% whole bunch, minimal SO2 added with no other additions. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. Tremendously low crops resulted in great depth of colour again. The aromatic profile is classic Mornington with rich plum/ripe strawberry fruits mixed with spice and complex mulchy undergrowth aromas. The palate has a beautiful fullness with plump plum and strawberry compote flavours. The textures and tannins are velvety smooth and very round in the mouth. This is joyfully good to drink!" "Red soils, cool vintage and cool site. The whole bunch component is slightly higher than past renditions. Small 1 tonne ferments with wild yeast and 25% new French large format oak. From the red soils of the Maccelsfield sub region of the upper Yarra Valley, this years extremely low crops have produced an amazingly complex and structured wine. This is unquestionably one of the best wines we have made from this site! The wine pours out with a deep ruby colour, the aromatics are hunting with violet florals, fragrant red berries, cinnamon and clove. The palate is dense and rich with raspberry and cranberry fruits, but the tannins are where this wine shines. They’re mouth coating and silky, and they almost interplay with the texture of the wine. Fantastic to cellar but just as good to drink now." Winery Notes
"Made from the Steels Creek Vineyard and grown by Simon Peirce, this vineyard was planted in 1981 and produces exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The blend is 82% Cab Sav and 18% Cab Franc with 20% whole bunches included in the ferment. It's fermented with wild yeast and had 18 months in old French oak barriques. This variety is one that the Valley used to be widely recognised for and I’ve been wanting to bring it to life for some time... Its inky red colour sets the stage for something special. Aromas of classic blackcurrant, cassis, tobacco leaf and cedar. The fruit is rich and lifted. The palate is dense but soft and playful, not at all tannic or over-oaked. It’s a really beautiful, elegant, and classic Yarra cabernet. Do yourself a favour and buy some even if you’re not normally a Cabernet drinker." Winery Notes
