"A genuine prodigy, David Croix was recruited to head up the historic Beaune négociant Camille Giroud at the tender age of 24—a serious gig for so young a winemaker. Even then, Croix had earned a reputation as a conscientious and shrewd wine mind beyond his years. Today, he manages an artisanal, eight-hectare domaine widely credited with helping put Beaune back on the fine wine map. Simply put, he is one of his generation’s brightest talents. If Burgundy is a test bed for progression in France, Croix is at the forefront. For now, his 2021s are outstanding. The reds are long, classy, and full of fruit and energy. This year, we also have the Beaune village and Beaune 1er Cru Pertuisots (from a terroir that Croix rates as Beaune ‘Grand Cru’). As you might expect from someone once headhunted by Jean-Marc Roulot, the two 2021 whites are equally terrific. And do we need to highlight the prices? Wines with this kind of quality/price ratio are almost a thing of the past in Burgundy. Buy what you can." Importer Notes
“The 2021 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, which sees no new oak, has a wonderful bouquet with perfumed yellow fruit, beeswax and honeysuckle aromas. A hint of jasmine appears with time. The palate is very well balanced with pure citrus fruit. It's pretty linear at the moment though that should fill out in the second winter. There's fine tension from start to finish. The 2021 could be a killer CC.” 95-97Points Neal Martin, vinous.com

"The 2021 Beaune Les Cents Vignes 1er Cru, which includes some rows without hedging and others trimmed, has an understated bouquet with slightly tertiary red fruit. The palate is where the action is, consisting of very fine-boned tannins and perfectly judged acidity. A pixelated finish beckons you back for more. Superb." 91-93Points Neal Martin, vinous.com
“The 2021 Beaune 1er Cru Bressandes is a success for this high-altitude, steeply sloping site characterized by fine, calcium-rich soils. Mingling aromas of cherries and red berries with scents of orange zest and forest floor, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a layered, tensile profile and a long, mineral finish.” 91-93 Points William Kelly, The Wine Advocate
“The 2021 Beaune Pertuisots 1er Cru includes one-third stems and has a complex, alluring, sous-bois tinged bouquet that unfurls gracefully in the glass. The palate is very composed, harmonious and silky smooth. The stems impart a subtle pepperiness on the finish. Wonderful. Beaune doesn't get much better.” 92-94Points Neal Martin, vinous.com
“The 2021 Beaune 1er Cru Grèves is lovely, unwinding in the glass with aromas of exotic spices, rose petals, blood orange and sweet red berries. Medium to full-bodied, lively and layered, with powdery tannins, succulent acids and a long, saline finish, it's the most complete of Croix's premiers crus.” 91-93 Points William Kelly, The Wine Advocate
“The 2021 Corton Grèves shows really quite an elegant nose for what can be a massive terroir. Really lovely fruit on the palate in a full fresh red berry style, which makes the raft of tannins at the back unexpected – unless you know the nature of this particular terroir. But the tannins are ripe enough and they will meld with the fruit which is extremely persistent.” 91-94 Points Jasper Morris MW, insideburgundy.com
