2021 Dry White No 1Chardonnay
Usually $64- Special Offer $59

"A blend of 75/25% semillon/chardonnay, picked and fermented separately (the chardonnay barrel fermented in older wood) and blended in October. A very bright green gold. Really bright and fresh on the nose, too, with aromas of lemon verbena, grapefruit pith and orchard fruits. Chalky, dry, long and seamless. In a word, lovely, and this will only continue to become more complex over the next seven-plus years, too."

375ml Usually $65- Special Offer $60

"From the two original chardonnay blocks plus plantings from 2013 featuring newer clonal material. Barrel fermented in barriques and puncheons (30% new) and zero mlf. Brightly coloured. Complex with terrific fruit purity in the form of perfectly ripe orchard fruits and with just a hint of matchstick, too. Gentle, slatey and persistent, as good as it is now, this is also a keeper and will continue to blossom over the next few years."

2021Pinot Noir
Usually $129- Special Offer $119

375ml Usually $65- Special Offer $60

"Some whole bunches, a gentle hand plunging twice a day and 10 months in barriques (30% new). The top-pointed pinot from the Yarra Valley at the 2022 Australian Pinot Challenge, Sarah Crowe is now making pinots at Yarra Yering that stand alongside the other more celebrated reds in the portfolio. Just so perfumed with its bouquet of red fruits, rose petals and mountain herbs. Great depth and flow on the palate. It's deceptive, too, in that as pretty and alluring as this is now, it's also finely structured and tensile. It will be fascinating to see how this matures and unfolds over the next few years."

2021Agincourt Cabernet Malbec
Usually $115- Special Offer $109

"A blend of 80/20% 1995-planted cabernet and 1990-planted malbec. Matured in 225L barriques (15% new). A brilliant crimson purple. Aromas of cassis, blackberries, violets and a gentle whiff of cedar emanate from this beautifully put-together wine. Elegant, medium bodied and with super-supple tannins, Sarah Crowe has crafted an approachable and seductive cabernet. The well-deserved winner of the Best Cabernet Blend trophy at the 2022 Yarra Valley Wine Show."

2021Underhill Shiraz
Usually $139- Special Offer $129

"Sourced from a single block planted in 1973. Fermented with a combination of whole bunches and whole berries. Half the wine was fermented and matured in a 3500L French foudre (purchased in 2019), the other half in French puncheons (10% new). A medium–deep and very bright crimson. Lifted and immediately appealing with its aromas of black raspberries and violets alongside a cornucopia of spices including cracked black pepper, anise and fennel seeds. A gorgeous medium-weighted, intensely flavoured and long Yarra Valley shiraz with enough tannin to suggest patience will be rewarded. Great stuff."

2021Dry Red No 3 Red Blend
Usually $115 - Special Offer $105

"35/35/12/7/6/5% touriga nacional/tinta cão/tinta amarela/tinta roriz/alvarelhão/sousão, co-fermented and initially foot trod in a traditional lagar. This one-of-a-kind wine is beautifully perfumed with mountain herbs, lavender, rosemary and briary red fruits. Beautifully balanced and proportioned on the palate and immediately appealing with its gentle texture, refreshing acidity and superfine tannin structure."

2021Dry Red No 2 Shiraz Blend
Usually $139- Special Offer $129

"A blend of 96/2/1/1% shiraz/viognier/marsanne/mataro from 1969, 1980s and 1990s plantings. Fermented with whole berries and matured in barriques (30% new). A deep, bright crimson. Ripe with dark fruits, spice rack spices and a gentle waft of cedar. A rich, ripe mouthful of wine with firm, classic, old-school Yarra Yering tannins. An interesting contrast between this, the Underhill Shiraz and the Carrodus Shiraz, the No. 2 red may end up being the most long-lived of this terrific trio in 2021."

2021Dry RedNo 1 Cabernet Blend
Usually $159- Special Offer $149

"The unique ability of Cabernet Sauvignon to unite the contrasts of perfumed lightness with deep concentration, grace with structure and elegance with enduring longevity is unparalleled in the wine world. Its finest expressions are at once emphatically fragrant and lighter than air and yet deeper, more concentrated, more enduring and more structured. No Australian wine of modern era exemplifies this profound juxtaposition more emphatically than the 2021."

2021Carrodus Chardonnay
Usually $169- Special Offer $159

"Only the second release. Made from a small planting (four rows!) of clone 95. Barrel fermented in barriques (50% new). The Carrodus Chardonnay showing a bit more of everything than the very good Yarra Yering Chardonnay this vintage. More concentrated and structured. Saline and savoury. Real weight and texture but without any excess or heaviness. I love that touch of grip, too, on the long, chalky finish. Needs time. Excellent."

2021 Carrodus Pinot Noir
Usually $274- Special Offer $259

"Made from a small parcel planted in 1969. Whole berries with some stalk return, 35% new wood. A light, bright crimson. Perfumed and savoury with red and dark fruits together with some woodsy, stalk-influenced notes, too. There's an old-vine creaminess on the very well-balanced palate and ripe, persistent and velvety tannins rounding out a wine that can be confidently cellared for at least 10 years."

2021Carrodus Shiraz
Usually $274- Special Offer $259

"From a 1995-planted block. Destemmed and fermented with whole berries. Matured in barriques (30% new). Perfumed and inky, with a darker fruit profile than the Dry Red Wine No. 2 and the Underhill Shiraz. Blueberry and blackberry fruits intermingle with allspice, cinnamon and mace. Compact and tightly wound, this wine has superb depth but patience will be both required and rewarded."

2021Carrodus Cabernet Sauvignon
Usually $274- Special Offer $259

"Cabernet sauvignon from Yarra Yering’s original 1969 plantings. Matured in 225L French barriques (40% new). A bright, medium crimson red. So perfumed with its aromas of dark cherry, bay leaf, cedar and some tobacco box. Lovely fruit purity here. Medium bodied with supremely fine cabernet tannins, this is the veritable iron fist in a velvet glove. Today I slightly favour the Dry Red Wine No. 1, but for anyone lucky enough to have a bottle of each 10 to 15 years from now it should make for a great tasting!"

Warramate

Warramateis the vineyard next to Yarra Yering and was purchased by Yarra Yering in 2011 from the Church family who planted the first vines in 1970 (1 year after Yarra Yering). This property sits above Yarra Yering and has Coldstream Hills ( and James Halliday’s home ) above it facing West.

It has become a cult producer for Melbourne fine wine lovers who knew of this hidden gem. Sarah Crowe makes the wines in the Yarra Yering winery and has the same viticultural team as Yarra Yering – all dry-grown, hand-picked, and made with the same TLC as Yarra Yering.

2021Chardonnay
Usually $39- Special Offer $35

Reflective of a cooler year, this Chardonnay displays oyster shell minerality with a grapefruit freshness, then some more weighty melon and pawpaw fruits. Bright, palate tightening grapefruit acidity drives the long palate with texture from barrel fermentation. Malolactic fermentation filling out the middle palate bringing weight. A pithy texture lends weight and long lingering finish deliver a refreshing wine.

Producer Notes

2022Pinot Noir
Usually $39 - Special Offer $35

"From a 2ha plot planted in 2000. Some whole bunches. Matured in French hogsheads (20% new). A very bright crimson red. Just bottled. A very primary bouquet redolent of freshly picked cherries, ripe raspberries and a little bitter blood orange. Punchy and with loads of flavour and ripe tannins. This will merit an even better score, I'd imagine, in six to 12 months. Great value from the team at Yarra Yering."

2021Syrah
Usually $39 - Special Offer $35

"A blend of fruit from Warramate’s original 1970 plantings and more recent (2000) plantings. Whole bunches (20%), matured in barriques (20% new). A medium, bright crimson red. Primary with red fruits, violets and some whole-bunch derived spice. A lovely burst of flavour on the juicy, balanced and open-knit palate. Quite delicious now, but balanced and structured enough to cellar for at least five to seven years, too."

2021Cabernet Merlot Malbec
Usually $39 - Special Offer $35

"A blend of 60/25/15% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/malbec. Matured in older French oak for 15 months. A deep-ish crimson red. Another successful, vibrant fruit-driven red from Warramate. Aromas of freshly picked cherries and a hint of bell pepper and cedar lead onto the medium-bodied, quite delicious and fine-boned palate. Ready to trot, but all good if you still have some in the cellar four to six years from now."
