"The Santenay grapes come from the top of the slope, on very stony soil. Mid lemon yellow. Apple and bacon fat. Otherwise lemon and lime notes throughout, indicating lesser ripeness, but I think this will come out very well. Good persistence. Drink from 2025-2028. Tasted: October 2023."

"From Labourons, La Madone and Garenne. This version of Fleurie has been vinified with all the stems over 10 days cuvaison, aged in stainless steel and bottled in March under screwcap. A mix of crimson and purple. The bouquet has pure energetic Beaujolais notes, definitely some white pepper on top of the fruit. Light and fresh up front, more substantial behind, a bouquet of strawberries. Easy to open and easy to drink. Then open another one. Drink from 2023-2025. Tasted: October 2023."

2022 Fleurie 'Les Labourons'

"The Labourons cuvée is deliberately made in quite a different style to the screwcap version. Nearly 100 years old vines, 60% whole bunch, 3 weeks cuvaison, a mix of ageing vessels. This is much more backward than the other version of Fleurie, with a liquid strawberry note, needs a little more time in bottle, more of a food Fleurie."

"From En Capitain and the delightfully named Bottes de Chat, on granite and blue marl soils. 60% whole bunch, slow to ferment so four weeks on skins followed by a mix of ageing vessels. A more concentrated purple colour than the Fleuries. More backward, more muscle. Almost some blue fruit, many more tannins, punchy stuff, 14.5% alcohol which it can certainly carry. Drink from 2026-2032. Tasted: October 2023."

"Mid crimson purple. Delicious fruit with Nuits style energy. One tank was 40% whole bunches and one 100%. Overall, 50% whole bunch vinification and 25% new oak. Dark cherries here, with good structure behind, and fine length. Still sitting quietly at the moment but the wine has all that is needed to make a really fine example. The whole bunch pepper just shows at the back of the palate. Drink from 2027-2033. Tasted: October 2023."

Such energy, this is a stunning example of Corbeaux, with a succulence of perfectly judged ripe cherry-raspberry fruit through the middle, and refined tannins. Drink from 2028-2036.
