Domaine Jean Grivot - Beguiling Burgundy from one of Vosne's Best

Domaine Grivot has recently entered an exciting new chapter as the responsibility for the estate has shifted from Etienne to his talented, educated, and passionate daughter, Mathilde. She brings a fresh perspective to this esteemed domaine while maintaining the long-standing traditions of the Grivot family.

Both Mathilde and Etienne are committed to prioritising quality through meticulous vineyard management throughout the year. Their hard work yields healthy, ripe fruit with optimal phenolic and sugar levels, contributing to a depth of concentration and flavour. The winemaking technique employed is a blend of classic and modern methods. The grapes are entirely destemmed, and a 5- to 7-day pre-fermentation maceration occurs at temperatures between 12 °C and 15 °C. After approximately three weeks, the wines are transferred to casks, of which around 40% are new.

Over the past decade, Domaine Grivot has established itself as one of the top and most consistent names in Vosne-Romanée.

"A slightly deeper pitched nose combines notes of red and blue fruit along with hints of sandalwood and exotic tea. The mouthfeel of the more concentrated flavors is also quite sleek and tension-filled while delivering fine length on the balanced finale. This could use better depth, but more should reasonably develop if it's allowed a few years of keeping."
