Motor neurone disease is an incurable, poorly-understood terminal illness that destroys motor neurons in the brain. It causes the entire body to deteriorate, leading to paralysis, cessation of basic bodily functions such as breathing, and eventually death. The average life expectancy from diagnosis is just 27 months. Every day, two Australians are diagnosed with MND, and another two die from it.
This very special auction is a rare chance to bid on more than 90 unique food and lifestyle items to raise money for MND Victoria, while getting organised for end-of-year celebrations and gifting. Curated by MasterChef Australia judge, Sofia Levin, who lost her father to motor neurone disease in July this year, the auction runs online from 5pm September 13, to 5pm September 23, 2024.
The retail value of items start at $55 and stretch to beyond priceless. Highlights include top chefs cooking in homes, all-inclusive foodie weekends away, masterclasses and unbookable restaurant tables; as well as homewares, kitchenware, Australian art, jewellery and wellness items.
There is no cure for motor neurone disease, and while the hunt for one is loudly publicised, immediate care is severely underfunded. Every cent from this auction will go to MND Victoria, which provides essential care, support and resources to MND patients, helping them live as well as possible for as long as possible. BID FOR MND
