"The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon, from the 1920 Eastern vineyard, the 1975 Central vineyard and the 1971 Western vineyard plantings, takes the leafiness and sweet mint notes of the other wines in this release and steps it up a notch. This is archetypal Clare Cabernet in this way, and perhaps it is the most floral and fine version possible. The palate is brambly and earthy, layered with petrichor and graphite, wet asphalt and dried rose petals. There is a pomegranate note that provides some succulence and elegance too. The length of flavor here is quietly persistent, with very fine tannins that feel both chalky and gravelly through the long finish. This is a superb wine, one of see-through clarity and poise, ethereal even."
