"A blend of Shiraz (65%) from 1893 Central Vineyard and Mataro from the 1920 Eastern Vineyard. As a general comment on these 2020 wines, they have a slightly squishy fruit profile, kind of autumnal, but I really like them. I think I like them better than the 2019 wines, for example.
Such a lovely composed wine here. Plum, blackberry, a lavender and thyme sort of perfume, roasted honey nuts and and maybe a little liquorice and subtle cedar spice oak. It’s medium-bodied, all plum and hazelnuts, some dried herb and meatiness, fine balanced acidity, a mass of sooty/Turkish coffee tannin, that offer grip, though they’re kind of sumptuous too, pulling more to red fruits on a long insistently tannic finish. So stylish and with a load of character. I like this a lot."
