"Commemorating 170 years of Penfolds and made with grapes from vines around 100 years old, in particular the Kalimna 3C clone, which is a block that almost always makes it into Grange, the deep purple-black colored 2010 Bin 170 Shiraz Kalimna Vineyard Block 3C absolutely “wows” with intense creme de cassis and mocha aromas that are quite meaty and nutty plus accented by some earthy undertones, hints of baking spices, mint and touches of violets. Very concentrated and complex on the medium to full-bodied palate, the firm, fine-grained tannins and vibrant acid lend support to the very rich, long and layered finish. Drink Drink 2014-2025+"

"Sixteen months in a mix of new and one-year-old French oak. From Block C of the Kalimna Vineyard. Start your engines. Liquid seduction. So beautifully fruited, so beautifully structured. Luxury from start to finish. Coffee grounds, plums, raspberry and cloves. Jubey licoricey almost licorice-allsort centre. Bright and dense at once. Drinkable and highly cellarable at once. Immensely impressive both aromatically and on the palate. Essence of shiraz. Drink 2023-2045"

"In '73 a then once-only shiraz was made from Block 3C of the Kalimna Vineyard, a block often included in Grange. Early in its fermentation in '10, it became clear this was to become an utterly exceptional wine, and a hasty decision to complete its fermentation in French (not American) oak was taken, rewarded by this glorious shiraz after spending 16 months in 55% new hogsheads. The aromas are hyper-fragrant, the silk and velvet palate of extreme length and finesse, with waves of fruit and oak flavour. Drink by 2055"
