"Bird is a nice cuvee name. Pipers River for the Bird, is the word. A vineyard that Jim Chatto favours from past experience in winemaking in Tasmania. Sandy soils and red wine seems to work for Jim, presenting lacy and lighter he says.
Big perfume of dried rose petal, crushed rock, white pepper, alpine herbs and faint, pleasing manure scents. Fleshy texture but light in fruit and spice, pretty and with crisp tannins and a tart, refreshing finish. Sleek and lithe, refined and lovely. A fine, refreshing expression."
